Ishrat Hashmi was a Pakistani TV actress. [1] [2] She was known for her roles in the dramas Dhoop Kinare , Ana , Shehzori and Uncle Urfi . [3] [4]

Early life

Ishrat was born in 1948 in Karachi, Pakistan. She completed her studies from University of Karachi. She started working at Radio Pakistan in Lahore in 1959.

Career

She made her debut as an actress on PTV in the 1970s. [5] [6] She was noted for her roles in dramas Shama , Afshan , Aroosa and Naukar Ke Aage Chakar. [7] [8] She also appeared in dramas Family 93, Ba Adab Ba Mulahiza, Khala Khairan, Zeenat , Zair, Zabar, Pesh and Tipu Sultan: The Tiger Lord . [9] [10] Since then she appeared in dramas Shehzori , Aakhri Chattan, Kya Bane Baat, Burger Family, Ana , Bahadur Ali and Dhoop Kinare . [11] [12] [13] In 1973 she also appeared in the movie Naam Kay Nawab. [14] [15] In 2005, tributes were paid to her at the 1st Indus Drama Awards in Karachi by television personalities including Moin Akhter, Adnan Siddiqui, Faysal Qureshi, Sultana Siddiqui, Humayun Saeed and Babra Sharif. Personal life

Ishrat was married and had six children, including daughters Khursheed Talat, Anjum, Shella and Farah and sons Iqbal and sohail. In the 2000s, Ishrat left television and moved with her family to America. In 2004, she returned to Pakistan. [19]

Death

Ishrat Hashmi died on 31 January 2005 in Karachi.

Haseena Moin was a Pakistani dramatist, playwright and scriptwriter. She wrote several plays for stage, radio, and television. She was the recipient of the Pride of Performance award for her services to the performing arts in Pakistan. She wrote Pakistan Television's first original script Kiran Kahani aired in the early 1970s. PTV had previously relied upon novel-based scripts for its dramas. She was considered to be the best Urdu playwright and dramatist Pakistan has ever witnessed.

Dhoop Kinare is a Pakistani television series broadcast on PTV in 1987 and is now considered as one of the all-time favourite TV shows in Pakistan. The show starred Rahat Kazmi and Marina Khan in lead roles, was directed by Sahira Kazmi and written by Haseena Moin.

Yousuf Kamal, known professionally as Shakeel Yousuf, was a Pakistani actor best known for his roles in the PTV drama series Uncle Urfi (1975), as Mehboob Ahmed in PTV's Aangan Terha (1984), and as Taimoor Ahmad in Ankahi (1982).

Uncle Urfi was a Pakistan Television Corporation serial drama which first aired in 1972.

Shehzori is a Pakistani Urdu-language television series that aired in 1974. It was the debut serial of the playwright and scriptwriter Haseena Moin, who went on to become the most famous and successful drama writer of Pakistan, and to this day no writer has matched the popularity that she achieved. Shehzori is based on a work of the same name by Mirza Azeem Baig Chughtai. It was directed by Mohsin Ali.

Shehnaz Sheikh is a Pakistani television actress, host, and theatre director. She is one of the most popular actress of her time and was one of the most successful actress of 1980s and 1990s. Hameed Wain was a Pakistani actor. He is known for his roles in dramas Ehsaas, Dhoop Kinare, Kasak and Rozi.
