Ishtiaque Ahmad Qasmi (born March 1974) is an Indian Islamic scholar,mufti,and writer. He has been serving as a teacher at Darul Uloom Deoband since 2008. He is an alumnus of Darul Uloom Deoband and Maulana Azad National Urdu University.
Ishtiaque Ahmad Qasmi was born in March 1974 in his maternal village,Jhamta,in the Saharsa district of the Indian state of Bihar. [1] [2] [3]
He received his primary and secondary education at Madrasa Maarif Uloom Jhagarua,Darbhanga,Madrasa Falah Al-Muslimeen,Bikram,Madrasa Qasim Uloom,Mungarawan,Azamgarh,and Madrasa Riyazul Uloom,Guraini,Jaunpur. [1] [3]
In 1996,he completed his graduation in Dars-e-Nizami from Darul Uloom Deoband. In 1997 and 1999,he completed his postgraduate courses in Islamic jurisprudence from there,respectively. [1] [4] [3] At the Deoband seminary,his teachers included Mahmood Hasan Gangohi,Nizamuddin Azami,Abdul Haq Azmi,Nematullah Azami,Habibur Rahman Khairabadi,Zafeeruddin Miftahi,Naseer Ahmad Khan,Saeed Ahmad Palanpuri,Arshad Madani,Usman Mansoorpuri,and Abdul Khaliq Madrasi. He holds an MA,MPhil,and PhD in Urdu from Maulana Azad National Urdu University in Hyderabad. [1] [5] [6] [7]
From 1999 to 2000,he was an assistant teacher at Darul Uloom Deoband. Between 2000 and 2008,he served as a teacher and Deputy Mufti at Darul Uloom,Hyderabad. He was appointed to Darul Uloom Deoband in 1430 AH (2008 AD) as a teacher and has been teaching there ever since. [1] [8] [9]
His M.Phil. thesis was titled Chand Muntakhab Ulama-e-Deoband Ki Shayari Ka Tajziyāti Mutāla'a (transl. Analytical Study of Poetry of a Few Selected Scholars of Deoband),which consisted of an analytical study of the published poetry of Muhammad Tayyib Qasmi,Kafilur Rahman Nishat Usmani,and Riyasat Ali Zafar Bajnori. Muhammad Miyan Deobandi was an Indian Sunni Islamic scholar,academic,historian,freedom struggle activist,who served as the fifth general secretary of the Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind. He wrote books such as Aseeraan-e-Malta,Ulama-e-Hind Ka Shaandar Maazi and Ulama-e-Haqq Aur Unke Mujahidana Karname.
Madrassa Shahi is an Islamic seminary in Moradabad,Uttar Pradesh. It was established in 1879 by the poor Muslims of Moradabad under the supervision of Islamic scholar,Muhammad Qasim Nanautawi,who also established the Darul Uloom Deoband. This started as Madrasatul Ghuraba,but gained recognition as Madrasa Shahi. Its first principal was Ahmad Hasan Amrohi.

Hifzur Rahman Seoharwi was an Indian Sunni Islamic scholar and an activist of the Indian independence movement,who served as the fourth general secretary of the Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind. He fought against British rule for 25 years (1922-1947) and spent eight years in jail. As a politician,he opposed the partition of India,and served as a member of the Indian Parliament for the Indian National Congress from Amroha from 1952 to 1962.
Zayn al-Abidin Sajjad Meerthi (1910–1991) was an Indian Sunni Muslim scholar and historian and head of the Islamic studies department of Jamia Millia Islamia. His book Tarikh-e-Millat is required reading in the syllabus of Darul Uloom Deoband and in madrasas affiliated with it.
Saeed Ahmad Palanpuri,was an Indian Sunni Muslim scholar and author who served as Shaykh al-Hadith and Principal of Darul Uloom Deoband. A number of his books are required readings in Darul Uloom Deoband.
Nazir Ahmad Qasmi is a Kashmiri Sunni Islamic scholar and jurist who serves as the Grand Mufti of Darul Uloom Raheemiyyah. He is an alumnus of Darul Uloom Deoband and the Imārat-e-Sharia;and a member of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board and general secretary of the Majlis-e-Fiqhi,Jammu and Kashmir.
Zafeeruddin Miftāhi was an Indian Muslim scholar and jurist who served as a Mufti of Darul Uloom Deoband and the second president of Islamic Fiqh Academy. He compiled the religious verdicts of Azizur Rahman Usmani,called the Fatāwa Darul Uloom Deoband in twelve volumes and wrote books including Islām Ka Nizām-e-Masājid,Islām Ka Nizām Iffat-o-Asmat and Tārīkh-e-Masājid.
Hāmid al-Ansāri Ghāzi was an Indian Muslim scholar,author and a journalist,who co-founded the Nadwatul Musannifeen and served as the editor of bi-weekly newspaper Madina. He was the son of Muhammad Mian Mansoor Ansari and an alumnus of the Darul Uloom Deoband,Jamia Islamia Talimuddin and University of the Punjab. He was a member of the executive council of Darul Uloom Deoband and authored books such as Islām ka Nizām-e-Hukūmat and Khulq-e-Azeem.

Monthly Darul Uloom is an Urdu magazine published by Darul Uloom Deoband since 1941. Inaugurated under the supervision of Muhammad Tayyib Qasmi,with Abdul Wahid Ghazipuri as the initial editor,the magazine is currently edited by Salman Bijnori,guided by Abul Qasim Nomani. Comprising articles primarily authored by faculty members or alumni,the publication extends its focus beyond the reformation of the nation and the Muslim community. It covers a range of topics,including current religious,intellectual,social,and political issues,providing readers with insights into contemporary events and situations while also alerting Muslims to the challenges they may encounter. The magazine holds a distinct journalistic perspective on key issues related to the Deobandi movement. Though it faced cessation in the late 1940s,it was later revived by Azhar Shah Qaiser. Under his three-decade editorship,it evolved into a multidimensional publication,leaving a lasting legacy evident in the influence it exerted on other educational institutions,inspiring the creation of magazines such as Bayyināt that follow its model.
Naseer Ahmad Khan (1918–2010),also written as Maulana Naseer Ahmad Khan and Naseer Ahmad Khan Bulandshahri,was an Indian Islamic scholar and muhaddith. He served as a professor at Darul Uloom Deoband for about sixty-five years,out of which thirty-two years he taught Sahih al-Bukhari.

Sharif Hasan Deobandi was an Indian Islamic scholar and Muhaddith. He served as Sheikh al-Hadith at Darul Uloom Deoband from 1972 to 1977. He also worked as a professor of Hadith and Sheikh al-Hadith at Jamia Islamia Talimuddin in Dabhel for almost ten years.
Mahdi Hasan Shahjahanpuri (1882–1976),also known as Mufti Mehdi Hasan and Mahdi Hasan Gilani Qadri,was an Indian Islamic scholar and mufti. He served as grand mufti at Darul Uloom Deoband for twenty years. He was an alumnus of Madrasa Aminia and Darul Uloom Deoband. He was a student of Mahmud Hasan Deobandi and Kifayatullah Dehlawi. Along with jurisprudence,he also had access to hadith and biographical evaluation. His literary works include Rijāl-u-Kitāb al-Āthār,Sharh-u-Balāghāt-i-Muhammad FīKitāb al-Āthār,Al-la'ali al-Masnoo'ah fīal-Riwāyāti al-Marjoo'ah,and a critical commentary on certain ideas of Ibn Hazm in the Science of Hadith entitled As-Sayf al-mujalla 'ala al-Muḥalla. He has done research and commentary work on Muhammad al-Shaybani's two books,Kitab al-Hujjah AlāAhl al-Madīnah and Kitab al-Āthār.
Habibur Rahman Usmani (1860–1929),also written as Habibur Rahman Deobandi and Maulāna Habib al-Rahmān,was an Indian Islamic scholar,Arabic writer and poet,and an Islamic jurist. He served as Deputy Vice-Chancellor,then Vice-Chancellor for the VC Office of Darul Uloom Deoband,for nearly twenty-three years. He succeeded Hafiz Muhammad Ahmad as Grand Mufti of Hyderabad State for about one year. His students included Shabbir Ahmad Usmani,Manazir Ahsan Gilani,Muhammad Shafi Deobandi,Habib al-Rahman al-A'zami,Muhammad Idris Kandhlawi,Atiqur Rahman Usmani,Qari Muhammad Tayyib,Badre Alam Merathi,Hifzur Rahman Seoharwi,Saeed Ahmad Akbarabadi,Manzoor Nomani,and Yusuf Banuri.
Wasif Hussain Nadeem al-Wajidi,also spelled Maulana Nadeem-Ul-Wajidi,is an Indian Islamic scholar,columnist,critic,and writer who specializes in Urdu and Arabic language and literature. He is the father of Yasir Nadeem al Wajidi.
