Isilda Maria Prazeres dos Santos Varges Gomes (born 16 September 1951) is a Portuguese politician who has been serving as a Member of the European Parliament for the Socialist Party since 2024. [1]
She was the Civil Governor of the District of Faro between 2007 and 2009,and again between 2009 and 2011. [2] [3] She was elected Mayor of Portimão in 2013,with a relative majority (3 elected out of 7),on the PS lists;later she assured an absolute majority in the municipal executive through a post-electoral coalition with the only elected member of the PSD. In the local elections of 2017,she was re-elected,now with an absolute majority. [4]
The Socialist Party is a social-democratic political party in Portugal. It was founded on 19 April 1973 in the German city of Bad Münstereifel by militants who were at the time with the Portuguese Socialist Action. The PS is a member of the Socialist International,Progressive Alliance and Party of European Socialists,and has eight members in the European Parliament within the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats group during the 10th European Parliament.

Arrifana is a small parish and fishing village in the Faro District's Aljezur Municipality in the Barlavento Algarvio region of Portugal. João Nuno de Lacerda Teixeira de Melo is a Portuguese lawyer,conservative politician who is serving as Minister of National Defence,also being a member of the Assembly of the Republic,elected by Porto constituency. Portimonense Sporting Clube,commonly known as Portimonense Basquetebol or simply Portimonense is a professional basketball team based in the city of Portimão,Portugal,that plays in the Proliga (Portugal) basketball league. It is a part of the Portimonense sports club. In 2020,the team guaranteed the promotion to Proliga,the second tier of the sport in Portugal. They obtained their first national title by triumphing in the final,played on July 4 in Barreiro,over Galitos de Aveiro by 71–62.

The leadership ballot was called after Prime Minister and Socialist Party Secretary-General António Costa resigned from office on 7 November 2023. At the 2024 legislative election it had 1,915,287 registered electors.
Francisco Manuel Freitas Gomes is a Portuguese political scientist and politician. He was a member of the Assembly of the Republic between 2014 and 2015 for the Social Democratic Party. He has a degree in Political science.
