Isomorphic Labs Limited [1] is a London-based drug discovery company, which uses artificial intelligence for drug discovery. [2] [3] [4] Isomorphic Labs was founded by Demis Hassabis. [5] [3] The company was incorporated on February 4, 2021 and announced on November 5, 2021. [2] [6] It was established under Alphabet Inc. as a spin-off from its AI research lab DeepMind. [2] [3] [6] Hassabis is the CEO and founder. [3]

The company draws upon DeepMind's AlphaFold 2 technology, which can be used to predict protein structures in the human body with high accuracy, allowing its researchers to find new target pathways for drug delivery. [6] [7]

In December 2022, Isomorphic Labs announced its second office location in Lausanne, Switzerland. [6] [8]

In January 2024, Isomorphic Labs partnered with Novartis AG and Eli Lilly & Company to work together on AI drug discovery and research. [9]

Demis Hassabis is a British computer scientist, artificial intelligence researcher and entrepreneur. In his early career he was a video game AI programmer and designer, and an expert board games player. He is the chief executive officer and co-founder of DeepMind and Isomorphic Labs, and a UK Government AI Advisor. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society, and has won many prestigious awards for his work on AlphaFold including the Breakthrough Prize, the Canada Gairdner International Award, and the Lasker Award. In 2017 he was appointed a CBE and listed in the Time 100 most influential people list.

Sparrow is a chatbot developed by the artificial intelligence research lab DeepMind, a subsidiary of Alphabet Inc. It is designed to answer users' questions correctly, while reducing the risk of unsafe and inappropriate answers. One motivation behind Sparrow is to address the problem of language models producing incorrect, biased or potentially harmful outputs. Sparrow is trained using human judgements, in order to be more “Helpful, Correct and Harmless” compared to baseline pre-trained language models. The development of Sparrow involved asking paid study participants to interact with Sparrow, and collecting their preferences to train a model of how useful an answer is.

Inflection AI, Inc. is a technology company which has developed a machine learning and generative artificial intelligence hardware and apps, founded in 2022. The company is structured as a public benefit corporation and is headquartered in Palo Alto, California.

Gemini is a family of multimodal large language models developed by Google DeepMind, serving as the successor to LaMDA and PaLM 2. Comprising Gemini Ultra, Gemini Pro, and Gemini Nano, it was announced on December 6, 2023, positioned as a competitor to OpenAI's GPT-4. It powers the generative artificial intelligence chatbot of the same name.
