Italy will be represented at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2025 with the song "Rockstar" , written by Claudia Zanecchia and Giancarlo Prandelli, and performed by Leonardo Giovannangeli. The Italian participating broadcaster, Radiotelevisione italiana (RAI), internally selected its entry for the contest.
Prior to the 2025 contest, Italy had participated in the contest ten times since its first entry in the 2014 contest, winning the contest with its debut entry " Tu primo grande amore " performed by Vincenzo Cantiello, marking its only win to this point. The nation opted not to take part in the contest in 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. [1] In 2024, Simone Grande competed for Italy with the song "Pigiama party", which ended up in 9th place out of 17 entries with 98 points. [2]
On 30 September 2025, RAI announced that it had internally selected eleven-year-old Leonardo Giovannangeli with the song "Rockstar" as the Italian entrant for the 2025 contest. [3] [4] Giovannangeli had previously participated in the third season of The Voice Kids, where he had reached the final as part of team Clementino. [5] The song was released on 3 November, alongside an accompanying music video. [6]
The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2025 will take place at the Olympic Palace in Tbilisi, Georgia, on 13 December 2025. On 4 November 2025, an allocation draw was held to determine the running order of the contest, ahead of which each song was classified into a different category based on its musical style and tempo. Italy was drawn to perform in position 12, following the entry from the Montenegro and before the entry from Portugal. [7]
In Italy, the event will be aired on Rai 2 and RaiPlay, with commentary provided by Mario Acampa ; Rai Kids will be responsible for the television production of the Italian broadcast. [4] [8] [9]
Giovannangeli's performance will be staged by Claudio Santucci and choreographed by Erika Rombaldoni, with camera direction by Cristian Biondani, lighting programming by Blearred and graphics by Roof Video Design. RAI described the concept of the performance as "energetic and engaging, expressing the power of dreams and the pride of asserting one's identity". [10]
