Ivan Linn is a Taiwanese-American entrepreneur, investor, and music programmer.[ citation needed ] He is known for his work in the music production of video games in the Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts series. He is also appointed the music director and Chief Conductor of the Assassin's Creed Symphony World Tour. Linn is the founder of open source AI music platform Wavv. [1] Linn is a member of the National Arts and Sciences Recording Academy and ASCAP. [2]

Early life and education

Linn started his acting career at four years old, with roles in the popular dramas Justice Pao and the TV show Dream of the Red Chamber. He was also featured in different TV advertisements for companies like McDonald's and Hunya Foods.[ citation needed ]

Linn was first exposed to music at the age of four, and made his first public piano performance in Switzerland when he was in kindergarten. However, he only started studying piano formally at the age of twelve at Yamaha Music Foundation. [3]

Linn moved to Germany and went to the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media. In 2011, he moved to the United States to pursue a master's degree in piano performance at the New England Conservatory of Music with a full scholarship. [4] Linn graduated from Yale University in 2015.

Career

Early career

In 2011, Linn managed the Video Game Orchestra, a philharmonic of symphonic rock fusion based in Boston, MA. The group brought a brand-new music genre to theater and concert hall. [5] He later introduced the orchestra in Asia in 2012 and toured with the group. [6] He was with the Video Game Orchestra for four years. [7]

Linn received a gold medal at the International Edvard Grieg Piano Competition in Oslo and was invited by UNESCO to be featured at the Festival international de la diversité culturelle in Paris as a concert pianist. [8]

He performed with composer Yoko Shimomura, and recorded as a pianist and production manager for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy XV. [9] Linn toured with The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses, Eorzean Symphony Final Fantasy XIV, and Kingdom Hearts World Tour. [10]

Linn is the Founder and CEO of Wavv, an open source musicAI platform founded in 2022.[ citation needed ]

Linn was appointed as the music director and Chief Conductor for Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed Symphony World Tour at the end of 2018. [11] Assassin's Creed Symphony premiered with a live performance at E3 2019 that garnered millions of viewers. [12] [13] [14]

In June 2020, Linn recorded live covers for Yoko Shimomura's "Stay at home" virtual concert series. [15] He also produced Shimomura's music for the video game Xuan-Yuan Sword 7 released on October 6, 2020. [16]

Linn composed the score for the Netflix TV series Futmalls.com , released on December, 2020. [17]

In 2021, Linn was the General Manager of Star Ritz International Entertainment Co., Ltd., which was founded by Angie Chai, dubbed the "Godmother of Teen Dramas."

In September 2022, Linn became the advisor and later was appointed as the director of Filoli, which is also known as the Bourn-Roth Estate, a historic house and garden museum set in 16 acres of formal gardens surrounded by a 654-acre estate, located in Woodside, California.

<i>Assassins Creed</i> Video game series

Assassin's Creed is an open-world, action-adventure, and stealth game franchise published by Ubisoft and developed mainly by its studio Ubisoft Montreal using the game engine Anvil and its more advanced derivatives. Created by Patrice Désilets, Jade Raymond, and Corey May, the Assassin's Creed video game series depicts a fictional millennia-old struggle between the Order of Assassins, who fight for peace and free will, and the Knights Templar, who desire peace through order and control. The series features historical fiction, science fiction, and fictional characters intertwined with real-world historical events and historical figures. In most games, players control a historical Assassin while also playing as an Assassin Initiate or someone caught in the Assassin–Templar conflict in the present-day framing story. Considered a spiritual successor to the Prince of Persia series, Assassin's Creed took inspiration from the novel Alamut by the Slovenian writer Vladimir Bartol, based on the historical Hashashin sect of the medieval Middle East.

Samantha Lam Chi-mei is a Hong Kong singer and songwriter. It was produced by Tsai with Razor Chiang, Starr Chen, Howe Chen, and Øzi. Musically, it is a pop record which merged a series of genres such as trap, house, reggae, and gothic rock. Thematically, it tends to break through the traditional aesthetic criterion and explore the bipolarity of human feeling, and Tsai wants to "uncover the ugliness hidden behind the perfect surface, and peek into the emotions that try the best to be buried" through the album.

Steven Lin is a Taiwanese American classical pianist. Described by the New York Times for playing that is “...immaculately voiced and enhanced by admirable subtleties of shading and dynamics.” Lin has been awarded in several international piano competitions including the top prize winner of the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition in 2014, 3rd prize at the 2012 William Kapell International Competition, the 1st prize at the 2012 Juilliard School’s Gina Bachauer Piano Scholarship Competition and International Tang Dynasty Piano Competition in New York in 2008. Chen Chu-Shui (1942-1986) was a Taiwanese composer and violinist born in Dashu district, Kaohsiung. He was the recipient of the 5th Kaohsiung Culture & Arts Award in the music category in 1986. Chen served as the head of the music department at the Private Tainan Junior College of Home Economics, a board of Directors of the Kaohsiung Music Association, and a member of the Asian Composers League Taiwan National Committee. He and his wife, pianist Liu Fu-Mei, were known for their efforts to promote music education and art activities in southern Taiwan.

"The Great Artist" (大藝術家) is a song by Taiwanese singer Jolin Tsai, from Jolin's 12th original studio album Muse. The song was composed by Robin Jessen, Anne Judith Wik, Nermin Harambasic, Ronny Svendsen, Charite Viken Reinas, Eirik Johansen, Alexander Puntervold, and lyrics by Matthew Yen (嚴云農)and produced by Michael Lin (林邁可). The song was released on August 15, 2012, as a single from the album by Warner Music Taiwan and Mars Entertainment (天熹娛樂). The song and its music video were shortlisted for the Best Song of the Year and Best Music Video awards at the 24th Golden Melody Awards, and the song eventually won the Best Song of the Year award.


The Golden Melody Awards for Traditional Arts and Music (GMATAM) honors individuals and groups engaged in traditional arts, music, and opera performance in Taiwan. Initially organized by the Government Information Office, Executive Yuan, it transitioned to the jurisdiction of the Bureau of Audiovisual and Music Industry Development, Ministry of Culture. It's now overseen by the National Center for Traditional Arts, a division of the Ministry of Culture.

Kuo Hsueh-hu, born Kuo Chin-huo, was a pioneering Taiwanese gouache painter. He was born in Taipei's Dadaocheng, which was then part of Taiwan's Taipei Prefecture, during the Japanese colonial period. Along with Chen Chin and Lin Yu-shan, Kuo was one of the "Three Youths of Taiwan Fine Art Exhibition" and one of the major founders of the Taiwan Provincial Fine Arts Exhibition after World War II.

Shien-Ta Su is a Taiwanese violinist. After earning his diploma from the École normale de musique de Paris Alfred Cortot in 1985, he returned to Taiwan to engage in both performing and teaching. He currently teaches at Taipei National University of the Arts and National Taiwan Normal University, and he serves as the Dean of the College of Music at Taipei National University of the Arts. In 2002 he received the Best Performance Award at the 13th Golden Melody Awards.
