Iyer the Great is a 1990 Indian Malayalam-language psychological thriller film directed by Bhadran and starring Mammootty, Geetha, Shobana, Sukumari, and Devan. It was a commercial success upon release. M. S. Mani won the National Film Award for Best Editing for his work in the film. [1]
Vaikundam Soorya Narayana Iyer, a business executive, leads a normal family life along with Veni, his wife, and his mother. After falling from a tree while trying to capture an escaped pet parrot, Iyer undergoes acrophobia giving him the power of clairvoyance.
A couple of days later, he foresees a train crash with the precise train number and time of the incident. He warns the railway authorities but he is ignored. The crash killing more than a hundred passengers. Then, Iyer foresees an airplane crash and informs the authorities about a future bombing on a flight in Delhi. Aided by the information, the disaster is prevented, causing Iyer to hit the headlines.
Iyer gets an insight about steroids added to a particular brand of baby food by Gabrias Group. Iyer contacts Amala, a news reporter who does an exposé, destroying the business empire of Gabrias. Gabria vows vengeance on Iyer and plants a bomb in his car, killing Iyer's entire family. In retaliation, Iyer kills Gabrias, but is shot and admitted to the hospital. At the hospital, he predicts the sun will set early at 3 p.m. on the upcoming 3rd. Amala realizes that Iyer had just predicted his own death. The police impose tight security; however, a terrorist group successfully enters the hospital and shoots Iyer down at 3 p.m. The film ends showing Iyer's broken pair of glasses, with a caption The man who foresaw future.
The film was released on 31 August 1990.
The film received positive reviews from critics and audience. It was a commercial success. It ran for a considerable period in Tamil Nadu too. [2]
Sethurama Iyer CBI is a 2004 Indian Malayalam-language mystery crime film directed by K. Madhu and written by S. N. Swamy. It stars Mammootty in the title role, alongside Mukesh and Jagathy Sreekumar in supporting roles. Shyam composed the background score for the film.

Sukumari Amma was an Indian actress best known for her works in Malayalam and Tamil films. In a career spanning more than five decades, She has appeared in more than 2500 films predominantly in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, along with few Hindi and one each in Sinhala, French, Bengali, Tulu, English and Kannada films. Sukumari began acting at the age of 10. In 2003, she was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India for her contributions toward the arts. She won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the Tamil film Namma Gramam (2010). Sukumari died on 26 March 2013 in Chennai, following a heart attack.

Oru CBI Diary Kurippu is a 1988 Indian Malayalam-language mystery thriller film directed by K. Madhu, written by S. N. Swamy, and starring Mammootty, Suresh Gopi, Jagathy Sreekumar, Mukesh, and Sukumaran. The lead character, CBI officer Sethurama Iyer is inspired by a police officer named Radha Vinod Raju, Jammu and Kashmir cadre IPS Officer, who in 2009 was appointed as the first chief of India's National Investigation Agency. It was the highest grossing Malayalam film at that time. Considered one of the best crime thrillers in Malayalam, it eventually developed a cult following. This is the first installment in the CBI film series featuring Mammootty as Sethurama Iyer.
