Between 1987 and 1999, he held jobs in Medical Technology, Laboratory Equipment Repair, Biomedical R&D, Photography, Sales, and Quality control. In 1999, he started his own resume preparation company, A Perfect Resume, and continues to operate it, along with its sister company, Million Dollar Resumes.
In 2002, he began writing short horror and science fiction. His first novel, Carnival of Fear, was published in 2010 by Graveside Tales.
In 2011, his second novel, Ghosts of Coronado Bay (JournalStone Books) was nominated for a Bram Stoker Award for Superior Achievement in YA Horror.[1] In 2012, his paranormal thriller The Burning Time (JournalStone Books) was nominated for the International Thriller Writers' Thriller Award. And in 2015, The Cure was nominated for the Bram Stoker Award (Superior Achievement in a Novel).
In 2012, as the Horror Writers Association's Library Liaison and founder of their YA Literacy and Library programs, Faherty initiated literacy initiatives with several library organizations and established a partnership with Ray Billingsley, creator of the Curtis comic strip seen in more than 250 newspapers, to promote literacy to young adult readers. He played a major role in the creation and growth of the HWA's annual Library Day and the Summer Scares reading program.
In 2013, he partnered with actress/author Amber Benson and musician/actor/writer Richard Christy to promote literacy through horror and dark fiction, science fiction, and other genre fiction.
He served as a Trustee on the Horror Writers Association's Board from 2011 to 2022. Previously, he established and oversaw the HWA's Young Adults Write Now program and the associated scholarship for young writers. In 2022, he established and still oversees the HWA's Comics program, which builds partnerships with comic strip artists, including Mark Tatulli, creator of the comic strip Liō, and Scott Nickel, creator of the comic strip Eek!

Stephen Graham Jones is a Blackfeet Native American author of experimental fiction, horror fiction, crime fiction, and science fiction. His works include the horror novels The Only Good Indians, My Heart Is a Chainsaw, and Night of the Mannequins.
Dallas William Mayr, better known by his pen name Jack Ketchum, was an American horror fiction author. He was the recipient of four Bram Stoker Awards and three further nominations. His novels included Off Season, Offspring, and Red, the latter two of which were adapted to film. In 2011, Ketchum received the World Horror Convention Grand Master Award for outstanding contribution to the horror genre.
John R. Little is best known as a writer of horror and dark fantasy fiction. He was born in London, Ontario, Canada on August 16, 1955, and he currently resides in Ayr, ON Canada. John R. Little has an Honours Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Western Ontario where his major was Computer Science and he minored in Math. He has been publishing fiction since 1982 with his work "Volunteers Needed" published in the February, 1982 issue of Cavalier magazine. John R. Little's short story "Tommy's Christmas," first published in Twilight Zone Magazine in 1983, was chosen by Isaac Asimov, Terry Carr, and Martin Greenberg to appear in their 1984 anthology 100 Great Fantasy Short Short Stories. "Tommy's Christmas" has since been published in many different countries and languages. John R. Little continues to currently write novels, novellas, and short stories. His recent work has received many award nominations including the Black Quill and Bram Stoker Award.
Joseph Hillström King, better known by the pen name Joe Hill, is an American writer. His work includes the novels Heart-Shaped Box (2007), Horns (2010), NOS4A2 (2013), and The Fireman (2016); the short story collections 20th Century Ghosts (2005) and Strange Weather (2017); and the comic book series Locke & Key (2008–2013). Tamara Thorne, who also writes under the pen name Chris Curry, is a well-known, bestselling American horror writer. Her novel Winter Scream, co-authored with L. Tony Richards is an English dark fantasy and horror author. He was born in 1956 in Greenford, England, and educated at University College School, Hampstead, before going on to study law at Middlesex University. Although he has written science fiction, mystery, and even mainstream stories, he is principally an author of supernatural, dark fantasy, and horror fiction. He has published three full-length novels, five novellas, and more than sixty short stories. His work has seen print in most major genre outlets, and he is a frequent contributor to Cemetery Dance Magazine and to anthologies compiled by the British editor Stephen Jones. An avid traveller, his fiction is often set in locations he has visited, most notably in his 2004 stand-alone novella Postcards from Terri, where the peripatetic heroine of the title goes to Hong Kong, Japan, Africa, Switzerland, Nicaragua, Istanbul, Budapest, Barcelona, Ottawa, Chicago, New York, Vancouver, and San Francisco during the course of the story. It is this quality that prompted the editor, publisher, and critic John Pelan to say of him: He’s convincing … convincing enough that the locals will read about their city as described by Tony Richards and shudder. John Everson is an American author of contemporary horror, dark fantasy, science fiction and fantasy fiction. He is the author of thirteen novels and four short fiction collections, as well as three mini-collections, all focusing on horror and the supernatural. His novel Covenant, was originally released in a limited edition hardcover by Delirium Books in 2004 and won the Bram Stoker Award for a First Novel the following year from the Horror Writers Association. His sixth novel, NightWhere, was a finalist for the Bram Stoker Award in 2012.

His focus is on neo-noir, new weird, and speculative fiction, typically including elements of violence, mental instability, breaks in reality, unreliable narrators, and tragedies. His work is rich in setting and sensory details—often called maximalism. His writing has also been called transgressive and grotesque. In recent years, his dark fiction has added more hope, leaning into hopepunk. He was Editor-in-Chief at both Dark House Press (2012-2016) and Gamut Magazine (2017-2019).
Rena Mason is an American horror fiction author of Thai-Chinese descent and a three-time winner of the Bram Stoker Award.
Annie Neugebauer is a Texas based contemporary author of horror and poetry. Educated at the University of Texas at Austin, Neugebauer has been the webmaster for the Poetry Society of Texas. She has been nominated for the Bram Stoker Award twice. Her work has been published in a wide number of magazines including such names as Apex Magazine and Black Static. Neugebauer has also had her work appear in anthologies like the Year’s Best Hardcore Horror Volumes 3 & 4. She's a member of the Horror Writers Association.
Loren Rhoads is a San Francisco-based author, editor, and lecturer on cemetery history. She is a member of Horror Writers Association, Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America, and the Association for Gravestone Studies.
Ann K. Schwader is an American poet and writer of short fiction based in Westminster, Colorado. Schwader is a grand master of the Science Fiction & Fantasy Poetry Association, a multiple winner of the Rhysling Awards, and has been called one of the "top poets" in the speculative poetry genre.
