Jonathan Lee Pratt (born January 3, 1995), better known by his stage name JZyNO, is a Liberian singer and songwriter who is currently based in Ghana. [1] [2]

Early life

Jonathan Lee Pratt was born on January 3, 1995, in Buchanan, Liberia, to a Nigerian-Liberian mother and a Liberian-Portuguese father. He began performing musical freestyles as a teenager and relocated to Ghana, where he currently resides. [3] [4]

Music career

JZyNO gained recognition in Liberia in 2020 after releasing the single "Kpan Kpan Me", which features vocals by Teddyride. [5] [6] At the 2020 MTN-sponsored Liberia Music Awards, he was nominated five times, making him the first artist to garner the most nominations in MLMA history. [7] JZyNO released several singles in 2021, including the Krymi-assisted track "Mamie Watta" and the song "Rula", which features vocals from Epixode and Nedy Music. [8] His debut extended play, Brown Sugar, was released later that year.

In April 2023, JZyNO released the Afrobeats single "Butta My Bread", which features vocals by Ghanaian singer Lasmid. [9] [10] The song was distributed by Universal Music Group and became one of the top trending songs on Spotify Ghana. [11] [12] The official music video for "Butta My Bread" was released in August 2023. It was directed by Nigerian video director Clarence Peters. [13] [14]

Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade, better known by his stage name Mr Eazi, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and record executive. He is the pioneer of Banku music, a fusion of sound he describes as a mixture of Ghanaian highlife and Nigerian chord progressions and patterns. Mr Eazi relocated to Kumasi in 2008 and enrolled at KNUST, where he began booking artists to perform at college parties. He showed interest in music after recording a guest verse on "My Life", a song that gained traction and became a popular record at KNUST. Mr Eazi released his debut mixtape About to Blow in 2013. He gained an international audience following the release of the Efya-assisted single "Skin Tight". His second mixtape, titled Life Is Eazi, Vol. 1 – Accra To Lagos, was released in 2017.

Afrobeats is an umbrella term to describe popular music from West Africa and the diaspora that initially developed in Nigeria, Ghana, and the UK in the 2000s and 2010s. Afrobeats is less of a style per se, and more of a descriptor for the fusion of sounds flowing majorly out of Nigeria. Genres such as hiplife, jùjú music, highlife and naija beats, among others, were amalgamated under the "Afrobeats" umbrella.

"Essence" is a song by Nigerian singer Wizkid, featuring fellow Nigerian singer Tems. It was released on 30 October 2020, as the fourth single from Wizkid's fourth studio album, Made in Lagos. "Essence" was produced by P2J and Legendury Beatz. The "sensual" song sees the duo express their desire for each other. A music video was released on 9 April 2021, shot in Accra, Ghana. "Essence" is the first Nigerian song in history to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 and the Billboard Global 200. The song received a nomination at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards for Best Global Music Performance.

Chukwuka Chukwuma Ekweani, better known by his stage name Ckay, is a Nigerian rapper signed to Warner Music South Africa and Atlantic Records. During its debut week, the record gained popularity across TikTok in Europe and America, with the #FolakeChallenge hashtag.

Oludipe Oluwasanmi David professionally known as Spyro is a Nigerian singer and songwriter, he gained widespread recognition after the release of his single "Billing" which was released in July 2022. He is best known for his song "Who is your Guy?" which was first released in November 2022 and re-released in March 2023 as a remix featuring Tiwa Savage. Spyro also has music collaborations with Mayorkun, Dremo, Sound Sultan,Diamond Platnumz, Davido and many others.
