Jabir Husain (born 5 June 1945) is an Indian writer,historian and politician. He is a former Member of the Rajya Sabha representing Bihar. He was affiliated with the Janata Dal and Rashtriya Janata Dal. [1]
Jabir Husain was born on 5 June 1945 in Nonhi Village,Rajgir [2] in a well-to-do Shia Muslim [3] family. He started his professional journey as a professor in English language and literature in RD&DJ College Munger,a constituent college of Bhagalpur University. In 1974 on call of Jayprakash Narayan,he got deeply involved and actively participated in Total Revolution. As a result,he was persecuted and suspended from University service. He was also an English teacher.
In 1977 on Janta Party ticket,Prof Husain fought the Bihar Legislative Assembly election from Munger constituency. [4] He won the election by 41441 votes,the highest margin in the state. [5] This stellar result earned him a cabinet berth in the Karpoori Thakur ministry. He was appointed as Health Minister.
From October,1990 to March,1995 Prof Husain served as Chairman of the Bihar State Minority Commission.
In June 1994 the Governor of Bihar nominated Prof Husain to Bihar Legislative Council . A year later in April 1995,he was appointed as Acting Chairman of the council. And finally on 26 July 1996 he was elected uncontested the Chairman of Bihar Legislative Council. After competing his term he was reappointed and elected unopposed as Chairman again on 7 May 2000. Prof. Jabir Husain was elected to the Rajya Sabha on 29 March 2006 and subsequently,he relinquished the post of chairman,Bihar Vidhan Parishad on 15 April 2006. He completed his 6-year term on 2 April 2012. [6]
Prof. Husain has authored more than two dozen books in Hindi,Urdu and English. He is also credited for editing over 50 rare Urdu-Persian manuscripts. [7]

Kushwaha is a former Member of Parliament (MP) from the Karakat constituency in Rohtas district,Bihar,and a former member of the Rajya Sabha. He was the leader of Rashtriya Samata Party (RSP),his own party,which merged into Janata Dal (United) (JDU) in 2009. Later,he formed Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP),which also merged with JD(U) in 2021. On 20 February 2023,Kushwaha resigned from all positions in Janata Dal (United) and formed his own party called Rashtriya Lok Morcha due to his political problems with JD(U) and Nitish Kumar. Kushwaha contested the Lok Sabha election of 2024 from Karakat constituency and finished at a distant third position. However,he was elected unopposed to Rajya Sabha in August 2024.
Santosh Kumar alias Santosh Kushwaha is an Indian politician and a former Member of Parliament representing the Purnia constituency in Bihar. He was first elected in the 2014 Indian general election,having run as the Janata Dal (United) candidate in the constituency. In 2010 he was also elected as Member of Legislative assembly of the Baisi of Purnea district as a Bharatiya Janata Party candidate. One month before 2014 lok sabha election he joined JD(U) as he was nominated as the party candidate for Lok Sabha election for Purnea constituency.

On 23 June 2020 he along with four other MLCS merged with JD(U). He was again elected as a Member of Bihar Legislative Council on MLA quota in 2022.

They contested in three Lok Sabha constituencies in 2019 from Madhubani,Muzaffarpur and Khagaria but failed to win any seats. The support base for the party consists mainly of the Nishad,Nonia,Bind,Beldar community,which comprises 20 sub-castes of fisherman and boatmen.
