Clubs
Jack Donohue PS has a variety of clubs ranging from the school council. to digital media club and many more.
The Student Council is the student body head of the school, planning many of the fundraisers, dances and activities at the school. It is made of representatives from each age group, and the executive council which is made up of 2 police officers from the school.
The intermediate students are the ones that take the lead, for example the chairs, vice chairs, secretary, treasury and publicist. Mrs. Purchase supervises the Student Council.
Another club is the Student Ambassadors, made up of students in grades 6, 7 and 8 who apply at the beginning of the year, to demonstrate that they are able to lead activities and be good role models throughout our school. Mrs. Manchen is the teacher who supervises the Ambassadors. They host many activities for primary students, such as Let's Play, Let's Read and tutoring. At assemblies they are in usher the classes to their assigned seating areas and create presentations, such as the Remembrance Day assembly presentation.
At Jack Donohue, the Digital Media Club, or DMC is made up of many grade 7 and 8 students who want work with computers who create digital presentations, blogs or articles for Wikipedia. They are the student technology leaders in the school and are supervised by Mrs. Smith.
There is a Cardboard boats club, were students can work together to design and compete with a small but technically "life-sized" boat of their own creation.
The band club is a club led by the music teacher. Intermediate students meet at 8:00 am before school to practice for performances, such as holiday concerts and Novemberence day concerts.
JDPS, also has started both student and teacher book clubs. Mrs. Cardill and Mrs. Tranton supervise the student book club.
Solar Power Cars is a club run by Mrs. Purchase that meets after school, so that it the students can learn about solar power cars and create their own, at the end all their hard work pays off and they compete their cars in a race.
A club that is used by some of the intermediate students is the EMME club. EMME stands for Early Morning Math and English, which means that students are able to come in the mornings and work on homework and projects. This is always useful when you need extra help or time for the completion of your schoolwork. Although it is often used as an excuse to come inside the school early on cold and rainy days.
Music
Mr. Stephen Eisenhauer is the music teacher for the school. He leads and conducts the junior, senior, concert and jazz bands, the guitar club, the senior choir, and strings club. The strings club is a new ensemble at the school this year and consists of a full string quartet! Mrs. Meghan Schuler also plays in the club as a violist. Over 250 students are involved in the music program at JDPS, and several teachers and parents. School trustee Cathy Curry plays in the concert band.
Stephen Eisenhauer is a composer, guitarist, pianist, and singer, currently living and working in Ottawa, he has previously lived and worked in Montréal. His early music training included lessons in piano, ‘cello, voice and organ. At McGill University, he completed a B.Mus. in vocal music and an M.A. in music theory. His choral experience began as a choirboy at Christ Church Cathedral in Ottawa, and he continues to be active in several choirs, as a soloist and chorister. He has composed and published several pieces for these choirs, as well as instrumental music. Mr. Eisenhauer (Mr. "E.", pronounced "mystery") is also a fantastic teacher.
Jack Donohue puts on a musical every year. This musical is being run by Mr. Stephen Eisenhauer and Mrs. Dana Mercer. The name they use is the Jack-in-the-Box Players.
Mr. Eisenhauer is also the composer of the school song.
Musical Ensembles
Mr. Eisenhauer coordinates many of the musical programs at Jack Donohue. He runs the musicals along with Mrs. Mercer, (which, again, will be opening in April) but other than that he coordinates all of the beautiful music performed by the intermediate students. Here are some of the musical ensembles, coordinated by him:
The first ensemble is Concert Band, which is a mixture of grade 7 and 8 students. But this ensemble doesn't start until later in the year because Mr. Eisenhauer has to wait until the students are at the appropriate level to play the music. That is why during Term 1, the bands split up into a grade 7 band and a grade 8 band, they perform at the multiple concerts during the year, with music that is very graceful and that cheers up the crowd.
The second ensemble is Concert Choir, this is made up of grades 6, 7 and 8 students, who love to sing. Mr. Eisenhauer finds the appropriate music, and the choir spends one recess every week practicing their songs. During the year, they too perform their songs during the concerts.
The strings club is made up of a group of violin students. Mr. Eisenhauer often plays the 'cello in this group, and his wife (Mrs. Schuler) often plays the viola.
The guitar club is for any grades 6, 7 or 8 students who own a guitar. They learn many fun songs and then rock out at the concert! Mr. Eisenhauer likes to sing because he is a rock star!
There is also a Primary Choir, this is made of over 100 grade 1, 2, and 3 students. They sing many very cheerful songs that talk about various topics. This group was coordinated by Mrs. Skinner. (Who is unfortunately no longer at Jack Donohue)
Zion Heights Junior High School was an intermediate school for students in Grade 7 to Grade 9 in the north-eastern end of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It was opened in 1969 by the North York Board of Education, and is currently owned and operated by its successor, the Toronto District School Board.
Seycove Secondary School is a Canadian high school in the Deep Cove neighbourhood of the District of North Vancouver, British Columbia. Located just east of Dollarton Highway, the school has a student population of approximately 500 students in grades 8 through 12. Seycove is part of the SD44 program called a family of schools (FOS). Seycove acts as the family school for the Elementary schools considered the feeder schools including Dorothy Lynas, Cove Cliff, and Sherwood Park.
Lord Byng Secondary School is a public secondary school located in the West Point Grey neighbourhood on the west side of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The school opened in 1925 and was named in honour of The Lord Byng of Vimy, a hero of Vimy Ridge as well as the Gallipoli Campaign, who was largely responsible for the incorporation of tanks on a large scale at the Battle of Cambrai in 1917. At the time the school opened, Lord Byng was the Governor General of Canada. The school is widely renowned in the Greater Vancouver region for its selective Byng Arts mini-school program, as well as for its varsity sports programs and wide assortment of Advanced Placement and Enriched courses.
The Girard Academic Music Program (GAMP) is a public magnet secondary school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and is part of the School District of Philadelphia, covering grades five through twelve. All students are able to pursue music as a major subject area.
Forest Park High School is a public high school in Woodbridge, Virginia, unincorporated Prince William County, Virginia, United States. It is part of Prince William County Public Schools and is located on 15721 Forest Park Drive. The school's name references adjacent Prince William Forest Park, one of the largest natural parks in the Washington metropolitan area.
St. Peter Catholic High School is a Catholic high school located in Orléans, a suburb of Ottawa, Canada. The current principal is Linda Meulenbroek. The school includes grades 7–12 and also a preschool/daycare service. During the 2019–2020 school year, 525 intermediate and 1,235 high-school students were enrolled.
Alexander Mackenzie High School is a public secondary school with classes for students in grades 9 through 12, located in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada. The school opened in 1969 as Don Head Secondary School and was renamed Alexander Mackenzie High School in 1992, in honour of Major Addison Alexander Mackenzie, a Richmond Hill resident and philanthropist.
Winton Woods High School is a public high school located in Forest Park, just north of Cincinnati, Ohio, United States. It is the only high school in the Winton Woods City School District. Winton Woods High School serves about 1,560 students from Village of Greenhills, the City of Forest Park, and parts of Springfield Township.
Holy Cross Regional High School, or "HCRHS", is a Catholic school, under the administration of CISVA school board located in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada.
Galena Park High School is a secondary school located in Galena Park, Texas, United States and is one of three secondary schools in the Galena Park Independent School District (GPISD).
Virginia High School, home of the Blue Devils, educates students grades 7–12 in Virginia, Minnesota, United States. It is a public high school with open enrollment located across from the Saint Louis County District Courthouse on scenic 5th Avenue. Virginia High School has a strong music department known for the Marching Blues, the school's marching band. The A Capella choir is directed by Matthew Krage. The high school also participates in Minnesota State High School League sports such as hockey, basketball, volleyball, tennis, football, track & field, cross country, baseball, swimming, golf, soccer and wrestling. Despite budget problems in the past decade due to declining enrollment, Virginia Secondary has had success in standardized state testing, graduation rates, and school pride. Enrollment has been at a slow decline for the last few decades but enrollment has been increasing in the lower grade levels, and open enrollment from neighboring districts has brought new students to the school. Students are unofficially divided into grades 7 & 8 and 9-12. The school day consists of 7 periods ranging from 51 to 52 minutes with 3 to 5 minutes passing time allowed. Other Wednesday, students get out of school an hour early to allow for faculty professional development meetings. Junior high students have a closed lunch period between 3rd and 4th hours while grades 9–12 enjoy an open lunch after 4th hour.
Founded in 1977 as Walnut Valley Christian Academy, Little Rock Christian Academy is a private, college-preparatory Christian school serving PK3 through 12th grade. Little Rock Christian Academy is accredited by the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS), Association of Christian Schools International, the Arkansas Non-Public Schools Accrediting Association, and is a member of The College Board, National Honor Society, National Beta Club and the Council of Educational Standards and Accountability (CESA).
Campbell Collegiate is a public high school located in the Whitmore Park area of south Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. A part of Regina Public Schools, it has operated since 1963 and currently has the largest student population among high schools in Regina.
Lowther Hall Anglican Grammar School, most often referred to simply as Lowther Hall, is an independent comprehensive single-sex primary and secondary day school for girls, located in Essendon, an inner suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
River East Collegiate is a public high school located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, that belongs to the River East Transcona School Division. River East has a school population of approximately 1,250 students. The school colours are blue and white and the school mascot is the Kodiak (Kody).
Opelika High School is located in Opelika, Lee County, Alabama. Opelika High School, of the Opelika City Schools, serves students in grades 9-12. The principal is Farrell Seymore. The school's Assistant Principals are Katherine Fisher, Russ Hardwick and Kendrick Myers.

Cedar Crest High School is a public high school located in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. The school serves over 2000 students in grades 9 to 12 in the Cornwall-Lebanon School District.
The Metropolitan Area Youth Symphony (MAYS) is a youth orchestra in the Central Florida region founded in honor of conductor and cellist, Jonathan May. The MAYS is led by Artistic Directors Maureen May and Michael Miller and features eight orchestral groups spanning beginner, intermediate and advanced skill levels, as well as several in-school strings programs. In 2015, MAYS added Dr. Chung Park, Director of Orchestras and String Music Education at the University of Central Florida, to the artistic staff as conductor of the Symphony. The MAYS currently rehearses at St. Alban's Anglican Church in Oviedo, Florida and Lake-Sumter State College in Leesburg, Florida.
Rochelle School of the Arts (RSA) is a K–8 magnet school in Lakeland, Florida that has a specific focus on art-related subjects. It offers a variety of classes, such as Art, Band, Dance, Orchestra, Theatre, and Vocal. Rochelle has many different other classes that students can participate in such as keyboard, creative writing, photography, television production, robotics, theatre tech, musical theatre, art, women's choir, men's choir, Treble Choir, Show Choir, Physical Education and handbells. There are many clubs at Rochelle that do not have a class such as, Rocketry Club, Chess Club, Junior Thespians, Ukulele, SSYRA club, National Junior Honor Society, P.E.A.R.L.S, Math Counts, Golf Club, Recycling Squad, and Robotics.
