Jackson County is a county located in the U.S. state of Iowa. As of the 2010 census, the population was 19,848. The county seat is Maquoketa.

Iowa Highway 62 (Iowa 62) is a 19-mile-long (31 km) state highway in eastern Iowa. The highway begins in Maquoketa at Iowa 64, goes through Andrew, and ends in Bellevue at U.S. Highway 52 a few yards (meters) from the Mississippi River. The route has been on the primary highway system since the network was created in 1920. The road was graveled in the late 1920s and paved some 30 years later. It is called the Ansel Briggs Highway in honor of the first governor of Iowa who lived in Andrew during his term in office.

It currently serves as a portion of Bellevue Elementary School, the oldest functioning school in the state of Iowa.

The former Jackson County Jail, also known as the Andrew Jail, is a historic building located in Andrew, Iowa, United States. Built in 1871 by local contractors Strasser and Schlecht, this building is the only reminder that Andrew was at one time the county seat for Jackson County. The stone blocks were quarried locally and vary somewhat in shape and size. They were laid in courses, and the window sills and lintels are composed of flat stones. The structure is capped with a cross-gable roof. After the courthouse moved to Maquoketa in 1873 the jail remained here until 1896. After a new jail was built in Maquoketa, this building was primarily used as a residence. A couple of frame additions have been built onto the building. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
The Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Narrow Gauge Depot-LaMotte is a historic building formerly located in La Motte, Iowa, United States. The Chicago, Bellevue, Cascade & Western Railroad was incorporated in August 1877, to build a narrow-gauge railway from Bellevue to Cascade. Narrow-gauge was chosen because it was cheaper to build, and it could negotiate the tight turns on the rugged terrain better. Construction began the following year, but lack of money doomed the project. The Chicago, Clinton, Dubuque and Minnesota Railroad took over the project, and it was completed on December 30, 1879. The first train reached Cascade on January 1, 1880. Ten months later they sold all their holdings to the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railroad, and this line became a branch line of the Milwaukee Road. That same year a frame depot was built in La Motte. It served as a combination freight and passenger station until it was destroyed by fire in 1910. This depot replaced it the following year. The 1½-story frame combination station represents the corporate style and standardized practices of the Milwaukee Road. However, it reflects the depots they built in the late 19th century, so it was somewhat outdated when it was built.
The Bellevue Community School District is a rural public school district and serves the city and surrounding area of Bellevue, Iowa. It is second largest public school district in Jackson County, Iowa. It operates two buildings serving grades PK-12 and 3-4 year old preschool. Bellevue High School holds both the junior high and high school as well as an athletics complex on its campus, while Bellevue Elementary School is located downtown within the pre-Civil War Jackson County Courthouse building. The district is overseen by the Iowa Department of Education.
