Frederik Jacobus Mulder (born 15 January 1964),known as Jaco Mulder,is a South African politician who is an incoming member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature. He previously served in the provincial legislature between 2004 and 2014. A member of the Freedom Front Plus (FF+),Mulder served as a member of the National Assembly of South Africa between 2019 and 2024. [1] [2] [3]
The Freedom Front Plus is a right-wing political party in South Africa that was formed in 1994. It is led by Pieter Groenewald. Since 2024,it is a part of the current South African government of national unity together with the African National Congress (ANC),the Democratic Alliance and other parties.
The Conservative Party was a far-right South African political party that sought to preserve many aspects of apartheid in the system's final decade,and formed the official opposition in the white-only House of Assembly in the last seven years of minority rule. It declined quickly after apartheid ended,before being merged with the Freedom Front in 2004.
Jacobus Frederik "Jacques" Smalle is a South African politician who has served as a Democratic Alliance Member of the National Assembly of South Africa since 2023 and previously from 2010 to 2014. Smalle served as a member of the Limpopo Provincial Legislature twice from 2009 until 2010 and again from 2014 until 2023. Smalle is currently the Democratic Alliance's Limpopo provincial chairperson. He had previously served as the party's Limpopo provincial leader and as deputy federal chairperson of the party. He was the DA's Limpopo Premier candidate for the 2019 election.
Petrus Johannes "Pieter" Groenewald is a South African politician who is currently serving as Minister of Correctional Services since July 2024. He has served as the Leader of the Freedom Front Plus since his election in November 2016. He started his political career by being elected Mayor of Stilfontein in 1988. He relinquished the position in 1989 due to his election to the House of Assembly. Groenewald co-founded the Freedom Front in 1994,and served as a Member of the National Assembly until his election to the North West Provincial Legislature in 1999. He returned to the National Assembly in 2001.
Thomas Charles Ravenscroft Walters is a South African politician of the Democratic Alliance (DA) who has been serving as a Member of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament since May 2024. Previously,he served as a Member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature from 2009 to 2014 and then as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa from 2014 until 2024. In 2012,Walters was elected Deputy Federal Council Chairperson of the Democratic Alliance,and has been deputising Federal Council Chairperson Helen Zille since 2019. He deputised James Selfe from 2012 to 2019. Walters was the party's Shadow Minister and Shadow Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform.
Pieter Mey is a South African politician and former police lieutenant who was elected to the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature in the 2024 general election. A member of the Freedom Front Plus,he serves as the party's leader in the Eastern Cape. Mey had previously served as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa from 2019 until 2024.
Tamarin "Tammy" Breedt is a South African politician who is the national youth leader of the Freedom Front Plus as well as a member of the National Council of Provinces. She was a Member of the Free State Provincial Legislature from December 2017 until May 2019 and a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa from May 2019 until May 2024. Breedt was married to fellow FF Plus MP Wouter Wessels.
Wouter Wynand Wessels is a South African politician and a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa for the Freedom Front Plus. He is also the chairperson of Parliament's Standing Committee on the Auditor General. He took office as an MP on 1 December 2017 and succeeded the former party leader Pieter Mulder,who resigned from Parliament a day earlier.
Ignatius Michael "Michal" Groenewald is a South African politician who was elected to the North West Provincial Legislature in the 2024 provincial election. A member of the Freedom Front Plus (FF+),he is the party's provincial leader in the North West. Groenewald's father Pieter is the national leader of the Freedom Front Plus. He was previously a municipal councillor in the Matlosana Local Municipality and a member of parliament.
Philippus Adriaan van Staden,known as Philip van Staden,is a South African politician from Gauteng. He has been serving as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa for the Freedom Front Plus (FF+) since 2019. He previously represented the FF+ in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature from 2014 to 2019. Van Staden was a municipal councillor of the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality from 2011 to 2014.
Johan Jaco Londt is a South African politician who has been the Western Cape's Provincial Minister of Social Development and a Member of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament since June 2024. Prior to serving in the provincial parliament,he was a Permanent Delegate to the National Council of Provinces between May 2014 and September 2018 and again from May 2019 until May 2024. Between September 2018 and May 2019,he served as a member of the National Assembly. Londt is a member of the Democratic Alliance (DA),of which he serves as the party's provincial chairperson in the Western Cape. He was chairperson of the party's east region in the Western Cape from 2015 to 2020.

A member of the Democratic Alliance,Clarke served as a councillor in the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality from 2004 until her election to the Gauteng Provincial Legislature as a DA representative in 2014. After serving one term in the provincial legislature,Clarke was elected to the National Assembly of South Africa in 2019. Within the DA's Shadow Cabinet,she served as Shadow Deputy Minister of Public Service and Administration and as Shadow Deputy Minister of Public Enterprises before becoming Shadow Minister of health.
Nazley Khan Sharif MPL is a South African politician who has been a Member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature since 2024. She previously served in the National Assembly of South Africa and in the DA's Shadow Cabinet as the Shadow Minister of Women,Youth and Persons with Disabilities from April 2023 until May 2024,having previously served as Deputy Minister between June 2019 and April 2023. Khan is a member of the Democratic Alliance.
Gauteng is one of the nine multi-member constituencies of the National Assembly of South Africa,the lower house of the Parliament of South Africa,the national legislature of South Africa. The constituency was established as Pretoria–Witwatersrand–Vereeniging in 1994 when the National Assembly was established by the Interim Constitution following the end of Apartheid. It was renamed Gauteng in 1999. It is conterminous with the province of Gauteng. The constituency currently elects 48 of the 400 members of the National Assembly using the closed party-list proportional representation electoral system. At the 2019 general election it had 6,381,220 registered electors.
