Philippus Adriaan van Staden (born 5 December 1975),known as Philip van Staden,is a South African politician from Gauteng. He has been serving as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa for the Freedom Front Plus (FF+) since 2019. He previously represented the FF+ in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature from 2014 to 2019. Van Staden was a municipal councillor of the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality from 2011 to 2014. Philippus Adriaan van Staden was born in 1975 in Pretoria,South Africa. He attended Voortrekker Eeufees Primary School and matriculated from Pretoria North High School. [2] When he was a teenager,he became involved in politics. At age 17,he was the chairperson of the Afrikaner Volksfront branch in Pretoria North. [2] Van Staden became a businessman after school. [2]
In 2005,Van Staden entered politics again. In 2008,he was elected to serve on the party's Gauteng provincial executive committee. [2] He was the regional leader of the party in Pretoria from 2009 to 2016,the party's provincial organiser from 2009 to 2011,the party's mayoral candidate in the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality in 2011 and a Tshwane city councillor between 2011 and 2014. [2] In 2013,he was elected as the deputy provincial leader of the party,a position he currently still holds. [3] He also serves as member of the party's federal council. [2]
In 2014 he was elected as a Member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature. [4] As a member of the provincial legislature,he served on the programming,rules,local government and traditional affairs,roads and transport,petitions,ethics and human resources committees. [2]
In 2019 he stood as a parliamentary candidate from Gauteng and was subsequently elected to the National Assembly and sworn in on 22 May 2019. [5] He is a member of the Portfolio Committee on Health.
Van Staden was re-elected to the National Assembly in the 2024 general election. [6]
Van Staden is married to Sumare Schonken. They have one daughter. [2] They reside in Bergtuin,Pretoria. [7]
In February 2022,Van Staden was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He underwent surgery to remove it in May 2022. [7]
The Freedom Front Plus is a right-wing political party in South Africa that was formed in 1994. It is led by Pieter Groenewald.

Msimanga was the Executive Mayor of the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality from 2016 to 2019 and the DA Provincial Chairperson from 2014 to 2017. He is currently the Democratic Alliance's Gauteng Premier candidate for the 2024 elections. Msimanga was the party's unsuccessful candidate for the 2019 elections.
Petrus Johannes "Pieter" Groenewald is a South African politician. He has served as the Leader of the Freedom Front Plus since his election in November 2016. He started his political career by being elected Mayor of Stilfontein in 1988. He relinquished the position in 1989 due to his election to the House of Assembly. Groenewald co-founded the Freedom Front in 1994,and served as a Member of the National Assembly until his election to the North West Provincial Legislature in 1999. He returned to the National Assembly in 2001.
Wouter Wynand Wessels is a South African politician and a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa for the Freedom Front Plus. He took office as an MP on 1 December 2017 and succeeded the former party leader Pieter Mulder,who resigned from Parliament a day earlier. Wessels was married to fellow FF Plus MP Tammy Breedt.

He previously served in the provincial legislature between 2004 and 2014. She was the MEC for Economic Development,Agriculture and Environment from October 2019 to December 2020 as well as well as the Gauteng MEC for Social Development from December 2020 until October 2022. Prior to her election to the Gauteng Provincial Legislature in 2019,she served as a Tshwane city councillor. Mosupyoe is a member of the African National Congress.

Gauteng is one of the nine multi-member constituencies of the National Assembly of South Africa,the lower house of the Parliament of South Africa,the national legislature of South Africa. Gerhardus Willem Koornhof is a South African politician and economist who serves as the Parliamentary Counsellor to President Cyril Ramaphosa. When Ramaphosa served as deputy president,Koornhof was his parliament counsellor. An MP since 1994,Koornhof currently represents the African National Congress,though he previously represented United Democratic Movement between 1999 and 2003 and the National Party/New National Party before that.

Kgosientsho David "Sputla" Ramokgopa is a South African politician who is the Minister in the Presidency responsible for Electricity. He was the Mayor of Tshwane from 2010 to 2016. He was also a Member of the Executive Council in the Gauteng provincial government in 2019 and worked in the Presidency of South Africa as head of infrastructure from 2019 to 2023.
Theo Willem Coetzee was a South African politician. He served as a member of the National Assembly of South Africa for the Democratic Alliance from 2009 until his defection to the Freedom Front Plus ahead of the 2014 general election. From 2019 Coetzee was the sole representative of the Freedom Front Plus in the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature.
Mapiti David Matsena was a South African politician who represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature from May 2019 until July 2020,when he was murdered by a former employee. A lawyer by training,Matsena rose to political prominence through the ANC Youth League. From 2011 to 2018,he was the Deputy Regional Chairperson of the ANC in Tshwane,where he was also a local councillor. He was a member of the ANC's Provincial Executive Committee in Gauteng from 2018 until his death.
