Anthony Matumba is a South African politician who has been a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa since January 2022. A member of the Economic Freedom Fighters,he serves on the party's Central Command Team,its highest decision-making structure. He is a former Makhado Local Municipality councillor.
Matumba is a member of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) party. In 2016,he was elected as a councillor for the EFF in the Makhado Local Municipality in Limpopo. He was elected as an additional member of the EFF's Central Command Team structure,the party's highest decision-making structure between congresses,at the EFF's elective conference in December 2019. In July 2020,an investigation by the Digital Forensic Lab (DFRLab) linked the race-baiting Tracy Zille Twitter account used to spread disparaging and racist content and to harass black women to Matumba. [2] It was also revealed that Matumba was receiving an income from making the hateful comments on Twitter through companies he owned and registered to which Twitter users were directed. Matumba has denied being in charge of the Twitter account. [3] The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) then took Matumba to the Equality Court after it received a complaint from a member of the public. The case was heard in court on 27 July 2021, [4] and was postponed to August 2021 on 29 July. [5]
The Equality Court case was set to continue on 26 January 2022,but it was postponed to allow Matumba to be sworn in as an EFF Member of the National Assembly. [6] The swearing-in ceremony was presided over by Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula. [7] [8] [9]
Otta Helene Maree,known as Helen Zille,is a South African politician. She has served as the Chairperson of the Federal Council of the Democratic Alliance since 20 October 2019. From 2009 until 2019,she was the Premier of the Western Cape province for two five-year terms,and a member of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament. She served as Federal Leader of the Democratic Alliance from 2007 to 2015 and as Mayor of Cape Town from 2006 to 2009.
The Africa Muslim Party is a South African Muslim political party. It was founded in 1994,with Gulam Sabdia as Chairman and Imtiaz Suleman as national leader,and competed in the 1994 elections,winning no seats. It competed in the 1999 elections,but only in Western Cape province,achieving 9,513 votes and no seats;the next year,the AMP competed in elections for Cape Town metropolitan area and received 2 seats in the local legislature. The AMP competed again for the Cape Town Metro council in 2006,gaining 3 seats. After the 2006 local government elections,it joined the multi-party coalition led by Democratic Alliance) which supported the mayoral government of the DA's Helen Zille. Its participation in the coalition was short-lived,and it was expelled in January 2007 when it was revealed that AMP councillor Badih Chaaban tried to make a coalition deal with the African National Congress (ANC) in which Chaaban would become the mayor in return for toppling the DA-led coalition. This plot had failed when the Independent Democrats (ID) joined the multi-party coalition and bolstered Zille's position.

Jacobus Frederik "Jacques" Smalle is a South African politician from Limpopo who has been serving as a Member of the Limpopo Provincial Legislature since 2014,and previously from 2009 to 2010. He has also been a deputy federal chairperson of the Democratic Alliance since 2020. In 2012,he was elected Provincial Leader of the Democratic Alliance in the province. From 2010 to 2014,he was a Member of the National Assembly where he served as the Shadow Deputy Minister of Energy and as the Shadow Deputy Minister of Arts and Culture. Mmusi Aloysias Maimane is a South African politician,the former Leader of South Africa's opposition Democratic Alliance (DA) political party from 10 May 2015 to 23 October 2019,and the former Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly of South Africa from 29 May 2014 to 24 October 2019. He is the former leader of the DA in the Johannesburg City Council and the DA National Spokesperson. In 2011,he was elected to be the DA's Johannesburg mayoral candidate in the 2011 municipal elections. In that election,Maimane helped to grow the party's voter base,but was not elected mayor. Thereafter he served as Leader of the Official Opposition on the Johannesburg City Council until May 2014. In addition to his political career,he is also a pastor and elder in the conservative Liberty Church. He formed the One South Africa Movement in 2020.
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) is a South African left-wing to far-left pan-Africanist political party. It was founded by expelled former African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) President Julius Malema,and his allies,in 2013. Malema is President of the EFF,heading the Central Command Team which serves as the central structure of the party. The party itself has been accused of fomenting anti-white and anti-Indian racism,and Malema himself was convicted in 2011 for singing the song "Shoot the Boer". It is currently the third-largest party in both houses of the South African Parliament.

Thomas Charles Ravenscroft Walters is a South African politician of the Democratic Alliance (DA) who has been serving as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa since May 2014. He served as a Member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature from 2009 to 2014. In 2012,Walters was elected Deputy Federal Council Chairperson of the Democratic Alliance,and has been deputising Federal Council Chairperson Helen Zille since 2019. He deputised James Selfe from 2012 to 2019. Walters was the party's Shadow Minister and Shadow Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform.
The 2021 South African municipal elections were held on 1 November 2021,to elect councils for all district,metropolitan and local municipalities in each of the country's nine provinces. It is the sixth municipal election held in South Africa since the end of apartheid in 1994,held every five years. The previous municipal elections were held in 2016. On 21 April 2021,President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that the elections will be held on Wednesday,27 October 2021. It had been recommend by Dikgang Moseneke to delay the municipal elections until 2022. The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) requested the Constitutional Court to support the date postponement. The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) supported the date postponement while the Democratic Alliance (DA) was against the postponement of the date. The Constitutional Court dismissed the application to postpone the date until 2022,ruling that they had to take place between 27 October and 1 November. On 9 September 2021,the Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs,Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma announced that the elections would be held on 1 November.
Melikhaya Xego is a South African politician. A member of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF),he has been serving as a Member of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament since 22 May 2019. He is the Provincial Chairperson of the party.

Yoliswa Nomampondomise Yako is a South African politician from the Eastern Cape who serves as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa. She took office as an MP on 3 September 2018. Yako was previously a PR councillor of the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality and the chairperson of the municipality's Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC). Yako is a member of the Economic Freedom Fighters.
Mervyn Alexander Dirks is a South African politician serving as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa. A member of the African National Congress,he became an MP in 2014 and was the ANC's chief whip in the Standing Committee of Public Accounts until his suspension in January 2022. Dirks was a municipal councillor of the Msunduzi Local Municipality where he served as the deputy mayor.
Mmabatho Olive Mokause is a South African politician serving as a permanent delegate to the National Council of Provinces from the Northern Cape since March 2020. She is a member of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF). Mokause was a Member of the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature from May 2014 to April 2015. She was appointed to the National Assembly of South Africa,the lower house of Parliament,in April 2015 and served in the chamber until January 2018. After the May 2019 general election,she returned to the National Assembly,but resigned in September. In March 2020,she was selected to represent the EFF in the upper house.
Mavhungu Maureen Lerule-Ramakhanya is a South African politician serving as the Limpopo MEC for Transport and Community Safety since March 2020. A member of the African National Congress,she has been a Member of the Limpopo Provincial Legislature since May 2019. She served as the speaker of the legislature from May 2019 to March 2020. Lerule-Ramakhanya is a former mayor of the Vhembe District Municipality.
