The Parliament of the Republic of South Africa is South Africa's legislature;under the present Constitution of South Africa,the bicameral Parliament comprises a National Assembly and a National Council of Provinces. The current twenty-seventh Parliament was first convened on 22 May 2019.

The 2019 Western Cape provincial election was held on 8 May 2019 to elect the 6th Western Cape Provincial Parliament. It was the sixth provincial election held since the establishment of the provincial legislature in 1994.
The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) announced on 20 March 2019 that a record number of 48 parties had registered candidates for the national parliamentary election. Eastern Cape is one of the nine multi-member constituencies of the National Assembly of South Africa,the lower house of the Parliament of South Africa,the national legislature of South Africa. The constituency was established in 1994 when the National Assembly was established by the Interim Constitution following the end of Apartheid. It is conterminous with the province of Eastern Cape. The constituency currently elects 25 of the 400 members of the National Assembly using the closed party-list proportional representation electoral system. At the 2019 general election it had 3,363,161 registered electors.
Beauty Nomvuzo Dlulane is a South African politician who is currently serving as the chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Sports,Arts and Culture in the National Assembly of South Africa. She has represented the African National Congress (ANC) in Parliament since 1997. Between 2012 and 2022,she was also a member of the National Executive Committee of the ANC.
Nokuzola Gladys Tolashe,also known as Sisisi "Sisi" Tolashe,is a South African politician from the Eastern Cape. In government,Tolashe has been the Deputy Minister in the Presidency for Women,Youth and Persons with Disabilities since March 2023.

Comprising the so-called “Top Five”provincial officials and up to 30 additional elected members,each is structured similarly to the party's National Executive Committee (NEC) and is elected every four years at party provincial conferences.
Vumile Gladman Lwana is a South African politician who has represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature since September 2014. He was formerly the Mayor of Makana Local Municipality from 2000 to 2006 and from 2009 to 2011.
Comely Humphrey Maqocwa Maxegwana is a South African politician who represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the National Assembly from 2014 until 2019,when he failed to gain re-election. Before that,he represented the ANC in the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature. He was a prominent trade unionist in the Eastern Cape during apartheid and is also a former Provincial Secretary of the ANC's Eastern Cape branch.
Emanuel Andreas "Manie" Schoeman is a South African politician who served in the National Assembly from 1994 to 2009,excepting a brief hiatus from 2000 to 2001. He represented the National Party (NP) and New National Party (NNP) until September 2000 and the African National Congress (ANC) thereafter.
