The Inkatha Freedom Party is a conservative political party in South Africa,which is a part of the current South African government of national unity together with the African National Congress (ANC). Although registered as a national party,it has had only minor electoral success outside its home province of KwaZulu-Natal. Mangosuthu Buthelezi,who served as chief minister of KwaZulu during the Apartheid period,founded the party in 1975 and led it until 2019. He was succeeded as party president in 2019 by Velenkosini Hlabisa.
Dianne Kohler Barnard is a South African politician and former journalist,and a Member of Parliament for the Democratic Alliance (DA). In October 2015,she was expelled from the party by the DA Federal Executive. In December 2015,the decision was lifted on appeal to the DA's Federal Legal Commission.

Mary-Ann Lindelwa Dunjwa is a South African politician from the Eastern Cape. A member of the African National Congress,she was elected to the National Assembly in 2009. After her re-election in 2014,she became the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Health,a position she held until 2019,when she was elected Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Employment and Labour. She was re-elected to Parliament in the 2024 general election and then elected to chair the Portfolio Committee on Women,Youth and Persons with Disabilities before she was elected chairperson of the Chairperson of the Joint Multi-Party Women's Caucus.

Muntukayise Bhekuyise Ntuli was a South African politician. A member of the African National Congress,he served as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa from 1999 to 2003,when he resigned amid fraud allegations. He was then elected to the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature in 2009. On 11 September 2019,Ntuli became the Member of the Executive Council for Transport,Community Safety &Liaison,replacing Mxolisi Kaunda,who was elected Mayor of the eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality. Ntuli died on 16 January 2021,from complications of COVID-19.

KwaZulu-Natal is one of the nine multi-member constituencies of the National Assembly of South Africa,the lower house of the Parliament of South Africa,the national legislature of South Africa. The constituency was established in 1994 when the National Assembly was established by the Interim Constitution following the end of Apartheid. It is conterminous with the province of KwaZulu-Natal. The constituency currently elects 41 of the 400 members of the National Assembly using the closed party-list proportional representation electoral system. Cyril Xaba was elected as mayor the eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality,which contains the city of Durban,following the resignation of former mayor Mxolisi Kaunda.
