Andrew Dirk de Blocq van Scheltinga (born 22 January 1992), [1] known as Andrew de Blocq,is a South African ornithologist and politician who has been a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa since 2024,representing the Democratic Alliance.
De Blocq was born in Alkmaar,Netherlands on 22 January 1992. He attended Rondebosch Boys' Preparatory School in Rondebosch for his primary education. [2] He spent his high school years boarding at St. Andrews College in Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape. [3] After high school,he spent a gap year in Edinburgh,Scotland. [3] De Blocq returned to Cape Town thereafter and began studying at the University of Cape Town from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Ecology and Evolutionary biology and Applied Biology in 2013,a honours degree in Biological Sciences in 2014,and then a Master of Science in Biological Sciences in 2017. He conducted his honours degree thesis on the spotted hyena and his master's degree thesis which focused on the effects of boat-based tourism on waterbirds was conducted through the FitzPatrick Institute of African Ornithology. De Blocq worked as a research project manager at the University of Cape Town between October 2015 and March 2016 and also as a freelance professional bird guide from October 2015 until December 2017. [2] He joined BirdLife South Africa in 2018,working as a coastal seabird conservation manager before becoming an Avitourism Project Manager in 2020. [5]
De Blocq was a participant of the Democratic Alliance's Young Leaders Programme in 2023. [3] He stood as a parliamentary candidate for the party from Gauteng in the 2024 general election and was elected to the National Assembly of South Africa. [6] De Blocq was elected as the top candidate from the province on the regional ballot. Since becoming an MP,he has been a member of the Portfolio Committee on Forestry,Fisheries and the Environment and has been appointed as party spokesperson for the portfolio. [7]
Kevin John Mileham is a South African politician,a Member of the South African Parliament for the Democratic Alliance and the Shadow Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy. Mileham was first elected to Parliament on 3 June 2013,replacing Athol Trollip. His first parliamentary role was as the Shadow Deputy Minister of Land Reform and Rural Development. After the 2014 National Elections,he was appointed the Shadow Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs. In February 2019,he was appointed as Shadow Minister of Energy. After the National and Provincial Elections on 8 May 2019,Mileham was appointed as Shadow Minister of the expanded portfolio of Mineral Resources and Energy. Mileham was re-elected to Parliament in 2024.
Joseph Job McGluwa is a South African politician who was the leader of the Democratic Alliance in the North West province from 2015 to 2020. He has been a member of the National Assembly since 16 August 2018. He was previously in the National Assembly from 2009 to 2015. McGluwa was a member of the North West Provincial Legislature from 2015 to 2018.

Karabo Lerato Khakhau is a South African politician and a Member of the South African National Assembly for the Democratic Alliance since November 2022. Prior to this,she served as a DA Member of the Free State Provincial Legislature from May 2019 until November 2022. Aged 21 years at the time of her election to the Provincial Legislature,she became the youngest ever Member of Provincial Legislature in South Africa. Khakhau is a former President of the Student Representative Council (SRC) of the University of Cape Town (UCT) for the council term 2017/18. In this election she received the highest number of votes amongst all candidates in the institution.

Prior to his tenure in the National Assembly,Stubbe was a Member of the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature.
Michael John Cardo is a South African author and politician who served as the Shadow Minister of Employment and Labour from June 2019 until February 2024. He was elected to the National Assembly of South Africa in May 2014. Between June 2015 and June 2019,he was the Shadow Minister of Economic Development. He resigned from Parliament effective on 31 January 2024. Cardo is a member of the Democratic Alliance.
Samantha Jane Graham is a South African politician from the Eastern Cape who was elected to the National Assembly of South Africa in the 2019 general election and re-elected in the 2024 general election as a member of the Democratic Alliance. Graham has been the Deputy Minister of Electricity since 2024. Graham served as the shadow deputy minister of public works and infrastructure from 2019 to 2020 and as the shadow minister for the portfolio between 2020 and 2023,when she was named shadow minister of electricity.
