Elizabeth Dipuo Peters (born 13 May 1960 in Kimberley,Northern Cape) [1] is a South African politician who is the Deputy Minister of Small Business Development of the Republic of South Africa from 7 March 2023. [2] She was previously the Minister of Transport from 10 July 2013 until 30 March 2017,in the Zuma administration,and former Minister of Energy from 2009 to 2013 having served as successor to Manne Dipico as the second Premier of the Northern Cape Province,22 April 2004 to 10 May 2009. A member of the African National Congress (ANC),she serves on the Women's League National Executive Committee. [3] Dipuo Peters resigned as a member of parliament for the African National Congress in April 2017. [4]
Peters went to school at Tidimalo Junior Secondary and Tshireleco Senior Secondary in Kimberley. A few years after matriculating,she enrolled for a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work at the University of the North [5] (1987). She subsequently studied for a Certificate in Development and Public Policy from the University of the Western Cape (1996);a Certificate in Executive Management from the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business (2002);and a Certificate in International Policy Management,from Havana,Cuba (2002). Dipuo Peters joined the Young Christian Students,where her political activism began. She participated in Youth Formations in the church and community. She was Deputy Chairperson of the Women's Forum in AZASO which later became SASCO at the University of the North. In Kimberley she was a member of the Galeshewe Youth Congress,an affiliate of the United Democratic Front (UDF). She worked as a volunteer regional organiser for the South African Domestic Worker's Union,recruiting,organising,educating and counseling domestic workers in the Northern Cape (1987).
From 1987 to 1990 Peters was Head of the Women's Department at the South African Youth Congress. In 1990 she joined the African National Congress Youth League as the secretary for Women's Affairs,having been Woman Organiser of the National Executive Council (NEC) of the South African Youth Congress (SAYCO),1987 to 1990. [3] Former Transport Minister Dipuo Peters stated she resigned as an ANC Member of Parliament to focus on her health and her family. [6]

On 5 April 2017,a few days after being dismissed as Minister of Transport,Dipuo Peters resigned as a member of the Parliament of South Africa,citing health reasons and the uncertainty of the past two years as her reasons for leaving politics. [7]
Dipuo Peters,in conjunction with other alleged beneficiaries[ citation needed ] of SANRAL's urban tolling project,has been a vocal supporter of urban tolling to fund the Gauteng Freeway Improvement Project (GFIP)[ citation needed ]. Despite the financial burden already imposed on Gauteng residents due to significant electricity tariff hikes,load-shedding,the national fuel levy,and income tax hikes,the minister has unveiled plans to classify the non-payment of toll levies as an AARTO infringement.[ citation needed ]
The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the African National Congress (ANC) is the party's chief executive organ. It is elected every five years at the party’s national conference;the executive committee,in turn,elects a National Working Committee for day-to-day decision-making responsibilities. At the NEC's head is the president of the ANC,and it also contains the other so-called "Top Seven" leaders:the deputy president,chairperson,secretary-general,two deputy secretaries-general and treasurer-general.
Hazel Gertrude Jenkins is a South African politician and former Premier of the Northern Cape province. She served as Premier from May 2009 until she officially stood down in April 2013,following a stroke. The motion to recognise her stepping down as Premier was defeated in a vote by the legislature on 30 April 2013 so that technically Jenkins remained Premier. Hence Sylvia Lucas was sworn in on 30 April not as Jenkins' successor but as Acting Premier. Jenkins subsequently resigned,as of 22 May 2013,paving the way for Lucas to be sworn in as her successoron 23 May 2013.
Tina Monica Joemat-Pettersson was a South African politician who served as the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Police from July 2019 until her death in June 2023. He is the first President of SA-China People's Friendship Association.
Cassel Mathale is a South African politician who was the third Premier of Limpopo between March 2009 and July 2013. He is currently the Deputy Minister of Police in the South African government and before that was Deputy Minister of Small Business Development from February 2018 to May 2019.

Cukelwa Magdeline Chotelo,known as Tiny Chotelo,is a South African politician. A member of the African National Congress,she was elected to the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature in 2009. In 2013 she was appointed Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Social Development. She was appointed MEC for Nature Conservation and Environmental Affairs in 2014. Chotelo was demoted from the Executive Council in 2018 and left the legislature in 2019.

Motlalepula Ziphora Rosho is a South African politician. A member of the African National Congress,she was elected deputy speaker of the North West Provincial Legislature in 2010. In 2012 she was appointed as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Economic Development,Environment,Conservation and Tourism in the North West Provincial Government. Rosho was discharged from the executive council in 2014 and then served in the provincial legislature as a committee chairperson until December 2018,when she returned to the executive as MEC for Local Government and Human Settlement. Rosho was appointed as MEC for Finance after the 2019 elections.

Mahlomola Johnson "Jomo" Khasu is a South African politician,diplomat and civil servant who represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the National Assembly from 1994 to 1999. After that he served in the North West Provincial Legislature,where he was a member of the North West Executive Council until Premier Popo Molefe fired him in January 2001. He was a member of the United Democratic Front national executive committee during the 1980s and later served as South African Ambassador to Gabon.
