Westmoreland County is a county in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania,United States,located in the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of the 2020 census,the population was 354,663. The county seat is Greensburg and the most populous community is Hempfield Township. It is named after Westmorland,a historic county of England. The county is part of the Southwest Pennsylvania region of the state.
William Findley was an Irish-born farmer and politician from Westmoreland County,Pennsylvania. He served in both houses of the state legislature and represented Pennsylvania in the U.S. House from 1791 until 1799 and from 1803 to 1817. By the end of his career,he was the longest serving member of the House,and was the first to hold the honorary title "Father of the House". Findley was elected to the American Philosophical Society in 1789.
Christopher Louis Jacobs is an American politician who represented New York's 27th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives from 2020 to 2023. Jacobs served as the 62nd secretary of state of New York from April 2006 to January 2007. Beginning in 2012,he held the post of Erie County clerk,and he was a Republican member of the New York State Senate for the 60th district from 2017 to 2020. On June 23,2020,he won a special election to fill a congressional vacancy in the 27th district. He was reelected to a full term in November 2020.
