Jacqueline Mattox (neeRoss; born 26 September 1969) is a Vincentian athlete, who was the first female to compete at Summer Olympics for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, [1] she was the first Vincentian female to win a gold medal at the CARIFTA Games and also the first Vincentian female recipient of an athletics scholarship. [2]
Mattox competed mainly in the long jump and she won a bronze medal at the 1985 CARIFTA Games in the under-17s, [3] two years later she became the first Vincentian female to win a gold medal at the CARIFTA Games winning the long jump in 1987 in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, [4] later in the year she competed at the 1987 World Championships in Athletics in Rome, Italy, she leaped 5.29 metres and finished 28th out of 29 starters. [5]
The following year Mattox became the first female to compete at the Summer Olympics under the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines flag when they sent their first Olympic team to the 1988 Summer Olympics held in Seoul, South Korea. [2] In here long jump event her first two jumps were fouls and in her final jump she leaped 5.50 metres, [6] but it wasn't far enough for her to reach the final and ended up finishing 26th out of 30 starters. [7]
In 1989 she won her athletics scholarship and went to the University of Idaho, [2] where her success continued, she became a 10 time Big Sky Conference champion and is currently fourth highest point scorer in track and field for the Idaho Vandals and was named Big Sky Conference Outstanding Field Athlete three years running. Mattox currently resides in Mead, Washington, with her husband and four children, after working as a nurse for eight years, she now works for her husband as a personal administrative assistant. [8]
Jacqueline Joyner-Kersee is a retired American track and field athlete, ranked among the all-time greatest athletes in the heptathlon as well as long jump. She won three gold, one silver, and two bronze Olympic medals in those two events at four different Olympic Games. Sports Illustrated for Women magazine voted Joyner-Kersee the Greatest Female Athlete of All-Time. She is on the board of directors for USA Track & Field (U.S.A.T.F.), the national governing body of the sport.
Pauline Elaine Davis-Thompson is a former Bahamian sprinter. She competed at five Olympics, a rarity for a track and field athlete. She won her first medal at her fourth Olympics and her first gold medals at her fifth Olympics at age 34 in the 4 × 100 m Relay and, after Marion Jones' belated disqualification nine years later, in the 200m.
Sara Simeoni is an Italian former high jumper, who won a gold medal at the 1980 Summer Olympics and twice set a world record in the women's high jump.

Kaitinano Mwemweata is an I-Kiribati athlete. She was the first person ever to compete for Kiribati at the Olympic Games, when she represented her country at the 100 metre sprint in Athens in 2004.
Saint Vincent and the Grenadines sent a delegation to compete at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. The year's team included two athletes engaged in track and field events, and was accompanied by the team coach, manager, and chaperone. Saint Vincent and the Grenadines' appearance in Beijing marked its sixth consecutive Olympic appearance since its 1988 debut in Seoul, South Korea, and its smallest delegation to date. Alexander bore the flag of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in the opening ceremony and neither athlete medaled in their events or advanced to later rounds.
The CARIFTA Games is an annual athletics competition founded by the Caribbean Free Trade Association (CARIFTA). The games was first held in 1972 and consists of track and field events including sprint races, hurdles, middle distance track events, jumping and throwing events, and relays. The Games has two age categories: under-17 and under-20. Only countries associated with CARIFTA may compete in the competition.

Akela Jones is a Barbadian track and field athlete who holds Barbadian records in the women's heptathlon, pentathlon, long jump and high jump. She won gold in the long jump at the 2014 World Junior Championships. In 2015, she was NCAA champion in the heptathlon and won bronze in the high jump at the Pan American Games.
