Jade Eshete (born January 9, 1985) is an American television and film actress. She starred on the BBC America series Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency .
Jade Eshete was born to Guyanese and Ethiopian parents in Brooklyn, New York. [1] While obtaining her structural engineering [2] degree from The City College of New York, she volunteered with National Dance Institute helping inner city youth learn dance. [3]
Upon graduation, Eshete started her professional career in commercial print modeling for brands including L'Oreal Paris , Marshalls, QVC , Essence Magazine , Dark & Lovely and SoftSheen-Carson .[ citation needed ] She then transitioned into featured roles on stage, [4] including the character Squeak in the national tour of the musical The Color Purple , directed by Gary Griffin. She was also a featured singer in the international tour of Hair, directed by Diane Paulus. [3]
She also appeared in the short films 2015 Brooklove and the 2017 Ache.
On television, Eshete has been seen in episodes of HBO's 2012 series High Maintenance , [5] Hulu's 2014 series Deadbeat , NBC's 2016 series Shades of Blue and Showtime's Billions . [3] [6] Most notably she has starred as Farah Black [7] in the BBC America science-fiction detective 2016 series Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency . [8]

Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency is a humorous detective novel by English writer Douglas Adams, published in 1987. It is described by the author on its cover as a "thumping good detective-ghost-horror-who dunnit-time travel-romantic-musical-comedy-epic".

Dirk Gently is a fictional character created by English writer Douglas Adams and featured in the books Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency, The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul and The Salmon of Doubt. He is portrayed as a pudgy man who normally wears a heavy old light brown suit, red checked shirt with a green striped tie, long leather coat, red hat and thick metal-rimmed spectacles. "Dirk Gently" is not the character's real name. It is noted early on in the first book that it is a pseudonym for "Svlad Cjelli". Dirk himself states that the name has a "Scottish dagger feel" to it.
