Jadi Jantem (English: If I Knew) is a 1974 Indian Bengali-language drama thriller film directed by Tarun Majumdar as Yatrik. [1] This movie was released under the banner of Chitrajug. [2] [3] Uttam Kumar played the role of main protagonist of the movie, Mr. P. K. Basu, Bar-at-law. This movie was based on the thriller novel Nagchampa of Narayan Sanyal. [4]

Plot

Koushik Mitra, an engineer took a job of taxi driver because he was unable to find an appropriate service. One day he meet with Sujata, a scientist's daughter and they fell in love. Sujata was trapped in a conspiracy where she is accused of a murder. Barrister P. K. Basu defends on behalf of Sujata and starts investigation to find out the real culprit. What follows is a twist to find the actual shooter who killed the infamous Aggarwal.

In 2011, she received the Banga-Vibhushan, the highest civilian honour in West Bengal. In 2014, she was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India, the fourth highest civilian award in India, for her contributions to the entertainment industry.

Tapan Sinha was one of the most prominent Indian film directors of his time forming a legendary quartet with Satyajit Ray, Ritwik Ghatak and Mrinal Sen. Amanush (transl.Inhuman) is a 1975 Indian action drama film made in both Hindi and Bengali languages, produced and directed by Shakti Samanta. The film stars Sharmila Tagore, Uttam Kumar, Utpal Dutt and Asit Sen. Both the versions were hits. The film was based on Shaktipada Rajguru novel Naya Basat which he written based on Sundarban. Bipasha is a 1962 Indian Bengali-language drama film starring Uttam Kumar and Suchitra Sen. and directed by Agradoot. The film is based on a novel titled Bipasha by Sri Tarashankar Bandyopadhay.The story fleetingly describes the horror of riots in West Pakistan during the time of Partition of India. Bipasa was described as a victim of that riot in the film. However, the film deviates from the original novel and avoids describing Bipasha as a gang rape victim by Pakistani Islamist rioters.

Saheb Bibi Golam is a 1956 Bengali film directed by Kartik Chatterjee. It is based on a Bengali novelist Bimal Mitra's 1953 novel of the same name. The film explores the tragic fall of feudalism in Bengal during the British Raj. The title of the movie and the story is a reference to the plot simultaneously exploring a platonic relationship between a beautiful, forlorn wife of an aristocrat and a career-driven clerk. The film stars Sumitra Devi, Uttam Kumar, Chhabi Biswas, Pahari Sanyal.

Sesh Anka is a 1963 Indian Bengali-language thriller film directed by Haridas Bhattacharya and made by Kalpana Movies, Kolkata. This film was loosely inspired by the 1958 film Chase a Crooked Shadow. The film starred Uttam Kumar in lead with Sharmila Tagore, Sabitri Chatterjee, Pahadi Sanyal, Bikash Roy, Kamal Mitra and others in supporting role. P. K. Basu is a fictional detective character created by Bengali writer Narayan Sanyal. These detective stories are popularly known as the Kanta (Thorn) series. Some of the stories were inspired by the novels of Erle Stanley Gardner and Agatha Christie.

Indrani is a Bengali romantic drama film directed by Niren Lahiri based on a story of Achintya Kumar Sengupta. This film was released in 1958 under the banner of H.N.C. Productions. Nachiketa Ghosh was the music director of the movie. The film starring Uttam Kumar and Suchitra Sen in lead role. This was the first Bengali film where the legendary playback singer Mohammed Rafi was sing. Later he worked with Uttam Kumar in 1967 film Chhoti Si Mulaqat. The film become blockbuster hit at the box office and ran over 70 days in theaters.

Abak Prithibi is a 1959 Bengali film directed by Bishu Chakraborty. This film was produced by Tarun Kumar, who was also a Bengali film actor. This film was written by Bishu Chakraborty. The music was composed by Amal Mukherjee. This is a comedy drama film. The film stars Uttam Kumar in lead and others Ajit Bandyopadhyay, Gangapada Basu, Bidhayak Bhattacharya, Swagata Chakraborty, Tulsi Chakraborty, Nripati Chatterjee, Sabitri Chatterjee, Aparna Debi, Tarun Kumar, Priti Majumdar and Bireswar Sen played supporting role. Uttam Kumar playing here a thief role which is very unique.

Priyo Bandhabi is a 1975 Bengali film directed by Hiren Nag. This film written by Prabodh kumar Sanyal. The film has been music composed by Nachiketa Ghosh. This is a drama film. The film starring Tarun Kumar Chatterjee, Bhanu Bannerjee, Suchitra Sen, Dilip Mukherjee, Haradhan Bannerjee and Uttam Kumar in the lead roles.
