The University of South Alabama (USA) is a public research university in Mobile, Alabama. It was created by the Alabama Legislature in May, 1963, and replaced existing extension programs operated in Mobile by the University of Alabama. The first classes were held in June 1964, with an enrollment of 276 students; the first commencement was held in June 1967, with 88 bachelor's degrees awarded.
Ladd–Peebles Stadium is a stadium located in Mobile, Alabama. Opened in 1948, it has a seating capacity of 33,471. It is primarily used for American football, and is the home field for the Senior Bowl, the LendingTree Bowl through the 2020 season, and the University of South Alabama Jaguars through the 2019 season. After the 2019 season, the Jaguars moved to the new on-campus Hancock Whitney Stadium. In addition to football, the stadium is also used for concerts, boxing matches, high school graduations, trade shows, and festivals. Numerous entertainers have performed at Ladd–Peebles Stadium.
The South Alabama Jaguars represent the University of South Alabama in NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics. USA competes in the Sun Belt Conference; it is the conference's only remaining charter member from its inception. USA's athletics teams are nicknamed the Jaguars. Popular sports are baseball and men's basketball. USA sponsors 8 men's sports teams and 9 women's sports teams. The board of trustees voted to start a football program that began play in the fall of 2009.
The South Alabama Jaguars men's basketball program has competed in the Sun Belt Conference since 1978 when the league was formed. Since 1968, the Jaguars have compiled an overall record of 694–507 (.580). Ronnie Arrow returned as head coach in 2007, succeeding John Pelphrey after the 2006–07 season. In his three seasons succeeding Pelphrey, Coach Arrow was 63–34 (64.9%), and is 177–127 (58.2%) all time at South Alabama. He retired December 19, 2012 and was replaced by Jeff Price on an interim basis. On March 25, 2013, Matthew Graves was named as the new head coach of the Jaguars. On March 8, 2018, Graves was fired after 5 seasons after a 65–96 record with no postseason appearances. Exactly 1 week later, the Jaguars hired former Nicholls State head coach Richie Riley for the job. In Coach Riley's first year at the helm of the Jaguars, he led the program to their first non-losing season since 2013, finishing the year at 17-17.
The South Alabama Jaguars football program, established in 2009, represents the University of South Alabama in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. South Alabama joined the FBS in 2012 as a member of the Sun Belt Conference (SBC).
The South Alabama Jaguar Marching Band is a student organization that was approved by the University of South Alabama's board of trustees to debut in conjunction with the South Alabama football team in 2009. The decision was made on December 6, 2007.
The UHV Jaguars are the athletic teams that represent of the University of Houston–Victoria, located in Victoria, Texas, in intercollegiate sports as a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), primarily competing in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) since the 2015–16 academic year. The Jaguars previously competed as an NAIA Independent within the Association of Independent Institutions (AII) from the school's athletic program's inception in 2007–08 until 2014–15.
The John and Ann Rhoads Softball Stadium is a college softball stadium located on the campus of the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. It serves as the home field of the Alabama Crimson Tide softball team and is located on the corner of Peter Bryce Boulevard and Campus Drive on the northeast corner of campus. The Crimson Tide's all-time record at Rhoads Stadium is 316–50 (.863). It is the largest softball stadium affiliated with an individual university with an official capacity of 3,940. After they played their first season at Sokol Park and at Bowers Park for both the 1998 and 1999 seasons, the Crimson Tide opened Rhoads Stadium on February 23, 2000, with a 7–1 victory over the UAB Blazers.

The South Alabama Soccer Complex is a soccer complex located on the campus of the University of South Alabama campus in Mobile, Alabama. The facility is the home field of the University of South Alabama Jaguars women's soccer team. The Cage hosted the Sun Belt Conference women's soccer tournament in 2000, 2002, 2005, 2007 and 2012. The complex has a capacity of 1,000 people.
The 2011 South Alabama Jaguars football team represented the University of South Alabama in the 2011 NCAA Division I FCS football season. This was the third season in program's history. They were led by head coach Joey Jones and played their home games at Ladd–Peebles Stadium. This was their third and final season as an FCS independent before joining the Sun Belt Conference of the Football Bowl Subdivision in 2012; it would also be their first season in which all of their opponents were other Division I teams. They finished the season 6–4.
