Jahan Musayev (Azerbaijani : Cahan Musayev; born 3 March 1978) is an Azerbaijani Paralympic archer who competes in the Men's Individual Recurve Open and Team Recurve Open events. Classified under sport class ST, he has participated in multiple international competitions, including the World Championships and European Championships. Musayev won two bronze medals at the 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya and represented Azerbaijan at the 2024 Summer Paralympic Games in Paris.
Jahan Musayev was born on 3 March 1978. He pursued his education at Dokuz Eylül University in Izmir, Turkey. [1]
Musayev began his international career in 2015 at the World Championships in Donaueschingen, Germany, where he placed 33rd in the Individual Recurve Open event. Four years later, he competed in the 2017 World Championships in Beijing, China, where he ranked 17th in the Individual Recurve Open event. [1]
In 2019, Musayev participated in the World Championships in 's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands, finishing 17th in both the Individual Recurve Open and Team Recurve Open events. The following year, he competed in the 2023 World Championships in Plzen, Czech Republic, where he once again secured 17th place in both the Individual and Team Recurve Open events. [1] Jahan Musayev won two bronze medals at the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya, Turkey, on 11 August 2021. He partnered with Azade Abdullayeva to secure third place in the mixed team event and with Ali Nabiyev in the team event. [2]
Musayev also competed at the 2023 European Championships in Rotterdam, Netherlands, where he achieved 6th place in the Individual Recurve Open and Team Recurve Open events. [3] Additionally, he contributed to the team securing 8th place in the Team Recurve Open event at the same competition. [1]
Musayev competed in the 2024 Summer Paralympics, scoring 568 points in the Men's Individual Recurve event and was seeded 28th. [4] He competed against Mohammad Reza Arab Ameri of Iran in the Round of 32, where he lost 4-6 and did not advance further in the competition. [1]
Zahra Nemati is an Iranian Paralympic and Olympic archer. She originally competed in taekwondo before she was paralyzed in a car accident. At the 2012 Summer Paralympics she won two medals, an individual gold and team bronze. She has qualified to compete at both the 2016 Summer Olympics and the 2016 Summer Paralympics. She was the flag bearer at the 2016 Olympics and the postponed 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo where she shared the honour with thrower Nourmohammad Arekhi.
José Manuel Marín Rodríguez is an archer from Spain. He represented Spain at the 2004 Summer Paralympics, 2008 Summer Paralympics and 2012 Summer Paralympics. He has also competed in several world championships.
Patrick Huston is a British two-time Olympian archer from Belfast, Northern Ireland. He captured three world championship titles under the youth level, and eventually competed as a member of the two person archery squad of Team GB at the 2016 Summer Olympics, in Rio, losing the first round match to the eventual champion Ku Bon-chan of South Korea. In the Tokyo 2020 Olympics his best result was a men's team 5th. Huston currently lives near Lilleshall National Sporting Centre and trained full-time under senior national coach Richard Priestman for Archery UK, while remaining a loyal founding member of East Belfast Archery Club. Mete Gazoz is a Turkish recurve archer. He won the gold medal in the men's individual event at the 2020 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan. He also represented Turkey at the 2016 Summer Olympics held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In the 2023 World Archery Championships held in Berlin, Mete Gazoz emerged victorious, claiming the prestigious Individual title. Archery at the 2016 Summer Paralympics was held between 10 and 17 September 2016 at the Sambadrome Marquês de Sapucaí in the Maracana zone of Rio de Janeiro, and consisted of nine events. Although featuring the same number of events as in the 2012 Paralympic Games in London, their make-up changed substantially, with three men's events, three women's events and three events for mixed gender teams. Archery at the 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games was held in Konya, Turkey from 14 to 18 August 2022. Traditional Turkish Archery Competitions was heldd at Saraçoglu Sports Venue between 15 and 16 August 2022. For individual competitions, qualification, elimination and final elimination round shots was done, and for team competitions, elimination and final elimination rounds of the teams was done. Qualification rounds in Archery was made accordingly: Men’s and Women’s Recurve bow was 70m. 720 rounds, and Men’s and Women’s Compound bow was 50m. 720 Rounds. Para Archery competitions was held in Saraçoğlu Sport Complex between 09-13 August 2022. Competitions were held in Recurve Bow, Compound Bow and W1 Bows was held in Senior category. The qualification rounds of the competition was done as 720 rounds 70 m for Recurve bows, and 720 rounds 50 m for Compound Bows. Individual elimination and final rounds was done in each category after qualification rounds.
