James Evans is a Welsh Conservative Party politician and farmer,who has served as the Member of the Senedd (MS) for Brecon and Radnorshire since the 2021 Senedd election. He previously served as councillor for Gwernyfed ward on Powys County Council.
James Evans had been elected to Powys County Council in 2017, [1] representing the Gwernyfed ward,and was cabinet member for economic development,housing and regulatory services. In 2018 he was criticised for retaining this cabinet role while in New Zealand on a National Farmers' Union scholarship to study deer farming and vension production. [2]
At the 2021 Senedd elections,Evans contested the Brecon and Radnorshire constituency and was elected,becoming the first Conservative MS for this constituency. [3] [4] He maintained his role as a councillor until the 2022 Powys County Council elections,which he did not contest. [5] Evans is a member of the Local Government and Housing Committee and the Wales COVID-19 Inquiry Special Purpose Committee. [6] He is a member of cross-party groups on armed forces and cadets,beer and pubs,horseracing,preventing child sexual abuse,rural growth,small shops,suicide prevention and tourism. [6]
In 2023,Evans called for 'clear blue water' to be created between the Welsh Conservatives and the national Conservative Party,in reference to the clear red water approach taken by Welsh Labour. [7]
Evans is shadow minister for rural affairs since April 2024, [8] having previously served as shadow minister for mental health. [9]
Laura Anne Jones is a Conservative politician who has been the Member of the Senedd (MS) for the South Wales East electoral region since July 2020, having previously held the same seat as an Assembly Member (AM) in the National Assembly for Wales between 2003 and 2007. Jones also served as a county councillor for the Wyesham ward in Monmouthshire County Council from 2017 to 2022.
Mark Allan Isherwood is a Welsh Conservative Party politician, who has served as a Member of the Senedd (MS) for the North Wales region since 2003. He is currently Shadow Counsel General and Shadow Minister for Housing and Planning. Brecon and Radnorshire is a constituency of the Senedd. It elects one Member of the Senedd by the first past the post method of election. Also, however, it is one of eight constituencies in the Mid and West Wales electoral region, which elects four additional members, in addition to eight constituency members, to produce a degree of proportional representation for the region as a whole. It is currently represented by James Evans MS, of the Conservatives who has been the MS since May 2021.

Paul Windsor Davies is a British politician who has served as Member of the Senedd (MS) for Preseli Pembrokeshire since 2007. He served as Leader of the Welsh Conservatives and Leader of the Opposition in Wales from June 2018 to January 2021, resigning after possible breaches of Welsh COVID-19 rules. He had previously been Deputy Leader from 2011 to 2018 and Acting Leader in 2011 and 2018.

The 2021 Senedd election took place on Thursday 6 May 2021 to elect 60 members to the Senedd. It was the sixth devolved general election since the Senedd was established in 1999. The election was held alongside the Scottish Parliament election, English local elections, London Assembly and mayoral election and the Hartlepool by-election.
Jane Winifred Dodds is a Welsh politician who has served as Leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats since 2017. She was elected as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Brecon and Radnorshire at the seat's 2019 by-election, but was an MP for only three months before being defeated in the general election later the same year. In May 2021, Dodds was elected to the Senedd on the Mid and West Wales list. She is the only Liberal Democrat MS in the Senedd.

A by-election was held in the UK Parliament constituency of Brecon and Radnorshire on 1 August 2019 after Chris Davies, who had held the seat for the Conservatives since the 2015 general election, was unseated by a recall petition. The by-election was won by Jane Dodds of the Liberal Democrats.
