James Joseph Lukezic (born August 23, 1977) is an American investment advisor. He is the managing principal and executive managing director of Old Slip Capital Partners, an investment advisory firm based in New York City. [1] [2] [3]
Lukezic began his career at Merrill Lynch & Co., where he participated in the Junior Executive Training Program in New York. [4] In 2000, he joined the Offshore Funds and Private Investor Sales Division as a financial analyst.
In 2005, Lukezic joined Citigroup Global Markets as an Institutional Consultant. During the 2000s, he worked at Bank of America and Wells Fargo as a relationship manager and retirement plan consultant. [4] In 2014, he became director of investments at Oppenheimer & Co. Inc., where he focused on corporate retirement plan services and consulting high-net-worth Individuals. [4]
In 2018, Lukezic completed a transaction that saw Old Slip Capital purchase the Broker-Dealer arm of CNA Insurance in Chicago, Illinois, and now stands as Managing Principal and CEO of Old Slip Capital Group of Companies, which includes a Broker-Dealer, Registered Investment Advisory Firm, and an Insurance Agency, based out of New York City. [4] [5] [6] [7]
In 2024, he expanded the firm’s insurance operations with the purchase of two Allstate Insurance agencies in Westchester, New York. He is now in a legal dispute with Allstate in Manhattan’s federal court and in a lawsuit with FINRA over a connected issue, with the FINRA case being held in the District of Columbia’s Federal Court. The case, James Lukezic v. FINRA (Case No. 1:25-CV-00623), challenges the constitutionality of FINRA’s authority as a self-regulatory organization and seeks its structural reform. [8] [9] [10] [11]
Lukezic is chairman of the International Trust Fund (ITF USA), a nonprofit organization that supports landmine victims. He also chairs the Lukezic Family Foundation (www.lukezic.org), a nonprofit based in New York City that provides assistance to children in need. Lukezic lives in Greenwich, Connecticut, with his spouse, Anastasia Evans, and their two children.
He is an avid golfer. He played Varsity Soccer at Cornell University and competed professionally in the Slovenian Premier League from 1998 to 1999. [15] He was a member of the Slovenian under-23 Olympic team before retiring due to a knee injury.
