James "Jimmie" Santee is an American former competitive figure skater. He is the 1981 Golden Spin of Zagreb champion, 1982 Ennia Challenge Cup silver medalist, and 1983 Prague Skate silver medalist. Since 2006, he has served as the executive director of the Professional Skaters Association.

The Golden Spin of Zagreb is an annual senior-level figure skating competition, held yearly in Zagreb, Croatia. It became part of the ISU Challenger Series in the 2014–15 season. Medals are awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing, although, in some years, not every discipline is included. The equivalent for junior-level skaters is the Golden Bear of Zagreb.

The Prague Skate is an international figure skating competition. It was a senior event from the 1960s to 1997, usually held in November or December in Prague. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, and pair skating. Since 1999, it is organized in some years as part of the ISU Junior Grand Prix series.

Professional Skaters Association

The Professional Skaters Association International is the largest figure skating coaches association in the world. The PSA was founded on August 10, 1938 in Lake Placid, New York, as the American Skaters Guild, just two years (1936) after the Ice Teachers Guild was formed in England by Jacques Gerschwiler, Howard Nicholson, Gladys Hogg and Eric Van De Weyden.

Personal life

James Santee was born c. 1962, the son of RoseMary and Neil Santee. [1] His mother served as a judge for U.S. Figure Skating and his elder brother, David Santee, competed internationally in figure skating. [1] In 1987, he married Jamie-Lynn Kitching, who won the silver medal at the 1981 World Professional Championships and performed with Disney on Ice as a principal skater from 1983–95. [2] They had their first child, a son named Ryan, around 1995, and then two daughters, Sarah and Jessica. [1] [3] Ryan Santee competed at the junior national level in the United States.

U.S. Figure Skating is the national governing body for the sport of figure skating on ice in the United States. It is recognized as such by the United States Olympic Committee "USOC" under the Ted Stevens Olympic and Amateur Sports Act and is the United States member of the International Skating Union ("ISU"). Although the name of the organization is “the United States Figure Skating Association” it is now known as and conducts business under the name “U.S. Figure Skating.” Founded in 1921, U.S. Figure Skating regulates and governs the sport and defines and maintains the standard of skating proficiency. It specifies the rules for testing, competitions and all other figure skating related activities. U.S. Figure Skating promotes interest and participation in the sport by assisting member clubs, skaters, and athletes, appointing officials, organizing competitions, exhibitions, and other figure skating pursuits, and offering a wide variety of programs.

David Santee figure skater

David Neil Santee is an American former competitive figure skater. He is the 1981 World silver medalist and an eight-time U.S. national medalist. He also competed at the Winter Olympics twice. His younger brother James Santee was also an elite-level skater.

Disney on Ice

Disney on Ice, originally Walt Disney's World on Ice, is a series of touring ice shows produced by Feld Entertainment's Ice Follies And Holiday on Ice, Inc. under agreement with The Walt Disney Company. Aimed primarily at children, the shows feature figure skaters portraying the roles of Disney characters in performances derived from various Disney films. Feld Entertainment licensed the rights to Disney material for ice shows and includes shared merchandising revenue between Disney and Ice Follies.

Competitive

Santee began skating when he was three years old, following his elder brother. [1] They trained at various rinks, including the Oakton Ice Arena in Park Ridge, Illinois, Randhurst, Polar Dome in East Dundee, Rolling Meadows, Northbrook, and Niles Ice Land. [1] [4]

It is close to O'Hare International Airport, major expressways, and rail transportation. It is a part of the Chicago metropolitan area, bordering three northwestern neighborhoods of Chicago's Far North Side

In addition to his career as a figure skater, Santee qualified to the 1975 U.S. Speed Skating Championships and 1975 North American Speed Skating Championships. Competing at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships, Santee won the novice men's title in 1977 and the junior men's title in 1979. [1] He finished 7th at the 1979 World Junior Championships in Augsburg, Germany.

U.S. Figure Skating Championships

The U.S. Figure Skating Championships is a figure skating competition held annually to crown the national champions of the United States. The competition is sanctioned by U.S. Figure Skating. In the U.S. skating community, the event is often referred to informally as "Nationals". Medals are awarded in four disciplines: men's (boys') singles, ladies' (girls') singles, pair skating, and ice dancing in four colors: gold (first), silver (second), bronze (third), and pewter (fourth) on five levels, senior, junior, novice, intermediate, and juvenile. The event is also used to determine the U.S. teams for the World Championships, World Junior Championships, Four Continents Championships, and Winter Olympics, however, U.S. Figure Skating reserves the right to consider other results.

The World Junior Figure Skating Championships is an annual figure skating competition sanctioned by the International Skating Union in which figure skaters within a designated age range compete for the title of World Junior champion. The ISU guidelines for junior eligibility have varied throughout the years – currently, skaters must be at least 13 years old but not yet 19 before the previous 1 July, except for men competing in pair skating and ice dancing where the age maximum is 21.

Santee began appearing on the senior level in 1980. Internationally, he won gold at the 1981 Golden Spin of Zagreb in Yugoslavia, silver at the 1982 Ennia Challenge Cup in the Netherlands, and silver at the 1983 Prague Skate in Czechoslovakia. [5] He finished fourth at the 1982 Skate America.

The 1980 United States Figure Skating Championships was an event organized by U.S. Figure Skating to determine the U.S. national champions and the U.S. teams for the 1980 Winter Olympics and 1980 World Championships. Medals were awarded in three colors: gold (first), silver (second), and bronze (third) in four disciplines – men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing – across three levels: senior, junior, and novice. The 1980 Championships took place at The Omni in Atlanta, Georgia.

Yugoslavia 1918–1992 country in Southeastern and Central Europe

Yugoslavia was a country in Southeastern and Central Europe for most of the 20th century. It came into existence after World War I in 1918 under the name of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes by the merger of the provisional State of Slovenes, Croats and Serbs with the Kingdom of Serbia, and constituted the first union of the South Slavic people as a sovereign state, following centuries in which the region had been part of the Ottoman Empire and Austria-Hungary. Post-competitive

After retiring from competition, Santee worked for Walt Disney's World on Ice, appearing as a principal performer (1985–95) and then as a coach (1987–95). He later served as the skating director and facilities coordinator for Park Ridge Recreation & Park District in Park Ridge, Illinois. [4] [6] [7] From 1996 to 2005, he was the head coach for the Park Ridge speed skating team. He was named the 2002 Employee of the Year.

In 2006, Santee became the executive director of the Professional Skaters Association. [7]

She trained in Russia, in Riga, Latvia; and at the Oakton Ice Arena in Park Ridge, Illinois.

Artur Ashotovich Danielian is a Russian figure skater. He is the 2018 World Junior silver medalist and 2018 Russian junior national bronze medalist.
