Jamie Barry Dunross, OAM [1] (born 28 August 1965) [2] is an Australian sailor who won a gold medal at the 2000 Sydney Paralympics.
Dunross was born in Melbourne on 28 August 1965. [2] A former miner, he became a quadriplegic after an explosion at a gold mine in Kalgoorlie. [3] He cannot use his legs, and has very restricted use of his arms. Jamie had depression for five years after the accident, and his passion for sailing helped him to recover from it. He has two children. [4]
In 2000, in preparation for the 2000 Sydney Games, Dunross won the North American championship in the Mixed Three Person Sonar event in St. Petersburg, Florida with Noel Robins and Graeme Martin. At the Sydney Games, Jamie won a gold medal with Robins and Martin again in the Mixed Three Person Sonar event, [5] [6] in which he received a Medal of the Order of Australia for his 'service to sport'. [1] He also participated in the Mixed Three Person Sonar event at the 2004 Athens Games, but did not win a medal. [5] In 2010, Dunross became the first person with quadriplegia to circumnavigate around Australia unassisted. [4]
On 9 August 2016, his 2000 Paralympic gold medal was stolen during a burglary at the Royal Perth Yacht Club. [7] He said he was devastated by the theft. "I was really shocked, actually quite numb. All of a sudden the memories started flowing back from 2000 ... getting the medal put around my neck, and to think that I might not see it again, it really did hit home", he said. He also stated that if the medal was returned, it would go back on display at the Royal Perth Yacht Club. [7]
In 2020, Dunross along with Noel Robins and Graeme Martin were inducted into the Australian Sailing Hall of Fame. [8]
The Royal Perth Yacht Club (RPYC) is a yacht club in Perth, Western Australia. It is the third oldest yacht club in Australia after the Royal Yacht Club of Victoria and the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron. It is based at the Crawley Marina on Pelican Point and at the Fremantle Annexe in Challenger Harbour.
Jesse Martin, OAM, is a German-Australian sailor who in 1999 became the youngest person to circumnavigate the globe solo, non-stop and unassisted, Martin's journey in the 34-foot (10 m) S&S 34 sloop Lionheart-Mistral took approximately 11 months. He chronicled his adventures in the book Lionheart: A Journey of the Human Spirit, and his story was made into a documentary, Lionheart: The Jesse Martin Story.

Tom Slingsby is a successful Australian competitive sailor. Slingsby's first successes came sailing Laser dinghys, where he won three consecutive world championships and the 2012 Olympic gold medal. Slingsby was the strategist for the America's Cup-winning Team Oracle USA in 2013. In 2016 he skippered the winner-of-line honours in the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race line. Following this he skippered the Australian team in the inaugural SailGP competition.

Matthew Douglas Gray, OAM(born 20 December 1977) is an Australian Paralympic cyclist. He was born in Perth. At the 1996 Atlanta Games, he won a silver medal in the Mixed Omnium LC1 event. He won two gold medals at the 2000 Sydney Games in the Mixed 1 km Time Trial LC1 and Mixed Olympic Sprint LC1–3 events, for which he received a Medal of the Order of Australia. He broke a world record in the former event.

David Noel Robins, OAM was an Australian sailor. He began sailing as a child, and became partially quadriplegic after receiving a spinal fracture from a car crash at the age of 21. He was the skipper of Australia in the 1977 America's Cup, won the 1981 Admiral's Cup, and won a gold medal in sailing at the 2000 Sydney Paralympics. He died on 22 May 2003, four weeks after being struck by a car.
