James Ian McDowall (born 9 December 1947) is a former English cricketer. McDowall was a right-handed batsman who fielded as a wicket-keeper.
Jamie McDowall was born at Sutton Coldfield,Warwickshire,and was educated at Rugby School and Fitzwilliam College,Cambridge. He made his first-class debut for Cambridge University against Nottinghamshire at Fenner's in 1969. He played first-class cricket for Cambridge University in 1969 and 1970,making a total of seventeen first-class appearances,the last of which came against Warwickshire. [1] In his seventeen matches,he scored a total of 446 runs at an average of 14.86,with a high score of 62. [2] This score was his only half century for the university and came against Leicestershire in 1969. [3] He also took 26 catches and made a single stumping. He gained a Blue in cricket during his time at Cambridge.
It was also in 1969 that he made his debut for Warwickshire in a first-class match against Somerset in the County Championship at Clarence Park,Weston-super-Mare. [1] He made eleven further first-class appearances for Warwickshire,the last of which came against Lancashire in the 1973 County Championship. [1] In his twelve first-class appearances for the county,he scored 365 runs at an average of 20.27,with a high score of 89. [2] This score was his only half century for Warwickshire and came against Oxford University in 1973. [4] He also took 24 catches and made 2 stumpings. McDowall also made two List A appearances for Warwickshire in the 1973 John Player League against Middlesex and Somerset. [5] The presence of first choice wicket-keeper Alan Smith in the Warwickshire side limited his appearances in the first eleven. He left Warwickshire at the end of the 1974 season.
He later served in various positions in Warwickshire's administration. [6]
Samuel Moses James Woods was an Australian sportsman who represented both Australia and England at Test cricket,and appeared thirteen times for England at rugby union,including five times as captain. He also played at county level in England at both soccer and hockey. At cricket—his primary sport—he played over four hundred first-class matches in a twenty-four-year career. The majority of these matches were for his county side,Somerset,whom he captained from 1894 to 1906. A. A. Thomson described him thus:"Sammy ... radiated such elemental force in hard hitting,fast bowling and electrical fielding that he might have been the forerunner of Sir Learie Constantine."
Michael Burns is an English first-class list cricket umpire and former first-class cricketer who played county cricket for Warwickshire and Somerset in a first-class career which spanned from 1992 until 2005. He also played Minor Counties cricket for Cumberland and Cornwall. An adaptable cricketer,he appeared for Cumberland and Warwickshire as a wicket-keeper,but when he moved to Somerset he developed into an aggressive batsman who bowled at medium-pace when needed.

Whittle was a useful right-handed batsman the bulk of whose cricket career was spent batting low in the order;he was also a right-arm medium-paced bowler.

Norman Michael McVicker was an English cricketer. Having failed to establish himself with either Lancashire or Derbyshire,where he had trialled,McVicker initially played county cricket at minor counties cricket level for Lincolnshire. His performances in minor counties cricket were noticed by Warwickshire,who signed him at the age of 28 in 1969. He played five seasons with Warwickshire,winning the 1972 County Championship and taking 300 first-class wickets. He was released by Warwickshire at the end of the 1973 season and subsequently played for Leicestershire for three seasons from 1974–1976,winning both the County Championship and Benson &Hedges Cup in 1975. He retired at the end of the 1976 season,but came out of retirement in 1977 to play one-day cricket for Leicestershire,before retiring again at the end of that season.
