Morgan formed half of the duo Morgan-McVey [2] who released just one single, 1986's Stock Aitken Waterman-produced "Looking Good Diving" b/w "Looking Good Diving with the Wild Bunch". [3] Originally conceived as a Simon & Garfunkel-style male vocal duo who would harmonise over reggae beats, early demos failed to deliver on the concept. Facing creative inertia, the act's record company convinced them to work with rising pop producers Stock Aitken Waterman, a proposition that left them with mixed feelings. [3] Morgan says "Looking Good Diving" co-vocalist Cameron McVey was so "embarrassed" by the resulting record and video, the band disintegrated. [3]
However, the single's B-side, which Morgan co-wrote, would soon evolve into Neneh Cherry's "Buffalo Stance", which reached number three in the UK Singles Chart and the top 10 around the world in 1988. Morgan says he helped facilitate the track's transformation into a hit, after accidentally meeting its remixer, DJ Tim Simenon, while attempting to evade a stalker who was trying to kill him. [3]
As a solo artist under the name Jamie J. Morgan, he released a cover of the Lou Reed song "Walk on the Wild Side" in 1990, which reached the top 30 in the UK and Australia, and number one in New Zealand. [4] An album, Shotgun , was also released in 1990.

The trio had 13 UK No. 1 singles including three consecutive UK No. 1's and three US No. 1 singles. Dead or Alive were an English pop band who released seven studio albums from 1984 to 2000. The band formed in 1980 in Liverpool and found success in the mid-1980s, releasing seven singles that made the UK Top 40 and three albums in the UK Top 30. At the peak of their success, the line-up consisted of Pete Burns (vocals), Steve Coy (drums), Mike Percy (bass), and Tim Lever (keyboards), with the core pair of Burns and Coy writing and producing for the remainder of the band's career due to Percy and Lever exiting the group in 1989. Burns died in 2016; with the death of Coy in 2018, the band ended.

Mad, Bad and Dangerous to Know is the third studio album by English pop band Dead or Alive, released in December 1986 on Epic Records. Continuing their association with the Stock Aitken Waterman (SAW) production team, Dead or Alive scored several hit singles from this album, including "Brand New Lover" and "Something in My House". In addition to an image of singer Pete Burns, the cover features one of the game walls at the Château de Raray, where some of the scenes for La Belle et la Bête were filmed. The cover photographer was Bob Carlos Clarke. The phrase "Mad, Bad, and Dangerous to Know" itself comes from a statement by Lady Caroline Lamb describing controversial English literary figure Lord Byron.

An early version of the song appeared as the B-side on the 1986 Stock, Aitken, and Waterman-produced single "Looking Good Diving" by duo Morgan-McVey, which was made up of Jamie Morgan and Cherry's future husband Cameron McVey. The song, titled "Looking Good Diving with the Wild Bunch", was sung by Cherry.

"Whatever I Do (Wherever I Go)" is a Hi-NRG song written and produced by British hit making team Stock Aitken Waterman (SAW), which became a hit for singer Hazell Dean in 1984. Dean, having had a top 10 hit in May 1984 with "Searchin' (I Gotta Find a Man)", was looking for a follow-up single. Through her record company Proto Records she met SAW, who had by then worked with her label mates Divine and Agents Aren't Aeroplanes, but were virtually unknown.
