Jan Frederik Veldkamp (31 March 1941, Amsterdam - 12 November 2017) was a Dutch botanist, plant taxonomist and grass specialist. [1]
He worked in the Rijksherbarium (National Herbarium of the Netherlands), he undertook various plant expeditions in Papua New Guinea. Which were documented between 1984- 2008 in Flora Malesiana Bulletin in about 400 publications. He was a student, friend and also Bridge partner of Dutch botanist Cornelis Gijsbert Gerrit Jan van Steenis (1901–1986). [2]
In 2008, botanists Yasushi Ibaragi and Shiro Kobayashi in J. Jap. Bot. vol.83 on page 108 published Veldkampia , which is a monotypic genus of flowering plants belonging to the family Poaceae. [3] It was named in Veldkamp's honour.

Tiarella, the foamflowers, is a genus of flowering plants in the family Saxifragaceae. The generic name Tiarella means "little turban", which suggests the shape of the seed capsules. Worldwide there are seven species, one each in eastern Asia and western North America, plus five species in eastern North America. As of October 2022, the taxonomy of Tiarella in eastern North America is in flux.

Rhizanthes zippelii is a species of parasitic flowering plant without leaves, stems, roots, or photosynthetic tissue. Its flowers bud out of the roots of the Tetrastigma vine. It is found in the tropical rainforests of Java. The flowers are reddish-brown, with long hanging tips, and are from 12 to 29 cm across.
Edward Johnston Alexander was an American botanist who discovered three species and one genus. He is the author or one of the authors of 205 entries in the International Plant Names Index. He was born in Asheville, North Carolina and studied at North Carolina State University from 1919 to 1923. He was a longtime assistant and curator at New York Botanical Garden (NYBG), originally under the guidance of Small. While at the NYBG, he served as an editor of the Garden's botanical journal Addisonia for about thirty years, until the journal ceased publication in 1964.
Anthonius Josephus Maria "Toon" Leeuwenberg was a Dutch botanist and taxonomist best known for his research into the genus Buddleja at the Laboratory of Plant Taxonomy and Plant Geography, Wageningen. He was responsible for sinking many Asiatic species as varieties, notably within Buddleja crispa. In 1962, he worked with Jan de Wilde on the flora of the Ivory Coast.

Hellmut R. Toelken is a South Australian botanist. He retired in December 2008 from the position of senior biologist at the State Herbarium of South Australia, but remains an honorary research associate. Earlier he was with the Botanical Research Institute, Department of Agricultural Technical Services, Pretoria, S Africa.

Dirk Fok van Slooten was a Dutch botanist. He obtained a doctorate from Utrecht University in 1919. In 1948 he became acting director of the Buitenzorg Botanical Gardens in Java.
