Jan Darwin Hutchins (born 1949) is an American TV and radio journalist, producer and media consultant. Hutchins was born in Danville, Illinois and grew up in Ohio. He studied at Yale University, graduating with a B.A. in History in 1971. [1] [2] He started his career in 1972 as a sports journalist at the WIIC TV station in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After moving to California, Hutchins worked from 1974 to 1990 as a sportscaster on the KPIX TV channel in San Francisco [3] and at KRON (Channel 4). In 1981, he joined KICU (Channel 36) in San Jose when the San Francisco Bay Area independent television station initiated its news broadcasts, co-anchoring the prime time news program with Ysabel Duron until 1991. [2] [4] [5] From 1993-1995, Hutchins served as the director of community development for the San Francisco Giants baseball team. He hosted sports, news and public affairs programs for San Francisco area radio stations (KGO, KCBS, KNBR) and from 1997 to 2000 worked at American Champion Media, which, along with KTEH-TV (Channel 54), produced "Adventures with Kanga Roddy", a children's television series about emotional intelligence that aired on PBS and starred Pat Morita, Jennifer Montana and Karen Lott. [6] [7] [8] The show won Northern California Area EMMY Awards in 1999 and 2000. [9] [10] From 1996-1999 Hutchins served on the city council of Los Gatos, CA both as a vice-mayor and mayor and later founded a local yoga center. [11] [12] [13] [14] He lives currently in Tucson AZ where he works as a coach and mentor; enjoying retirement on the golf course. Divorced from Olga Kastrova, former business associate for five years. [14]

The two stations share studios at Broadway and Battery Street, just north of San Francisco's Financial District; KPIX's transmitter is located atop Sutro Tower. In addition to KPYX, KPIX shares its building with formerly co-owned radio stations KCBS, KFRC-FM, KITS, KLLC, KRBQ and KZDG, although they use a different address number for Battery Street.

The station also maintains a secondary affiliation with MyNetworkTV. Owned and operated by The CW's majority owner, Nexstar Media Group, KRON-TV has studios on Front Street in the city's historic Northeast Waterfront, in the same building as ABC owned-and-operated station KGO-TV, channel 7. The transmitting antenna is located atop Sutro Tower in San Francisco.

BayTV was a 24-hour regional cable news and sports channel that served the San Francisco Bay Area and operated from July 1994 to August 2001. It was originally owned as a joint venture between the locally based Chronicle Publishing Company and cable provider Tele-Communications, Inc.. Young Broadcasting acquired majority control of the channel after it acquired parent television station KRON-TV in November 1999, while TCI's interest transferred to AT&T Broadband upon its acquisition of TCI earlier that year.

He has worked as a financial correspondent and anchor for CNBC and BusinessWeek in New York and served as general manager of KCNS-TV in San Francisco. He anchored and reported the news for New York network flagship stations WNBC-TV, WABC-TV and Fox Broadcasting Company in New York. He also anchored and reported for KRON-NBC-TV in San Francisco, KOMO-ABC-TV in Seattle and KNTV-ABC-TV in San Jose. He now hosts a podcast, THE BIG SHIFT with Jim Paymar, available on Apple, Amazon, Google, Spotify and YouTube.

Stan Bunger is an American broadcast journalist. He was the morning co-anchor at KCBS All News 740 AM/106.9 FM in San Francisco from 2000 until his retirement in 2021. He first joined KCBS in 1982 and served until 1992.

In American television, early prime time is a programming practice of airing television prime time programming an hour earlier than normal. It is most applicable in the Pacific Time Zone, where prime time programming generally airs from 8 to 11 p.m., as opposed to 7 to 10 p.m. as in the Central and Mountain time zones.
