Janes Aviation is a British cargo airline based at London Southend Airport.

History

Janes Aviation (1987-1992)

On 1 December 1987 Andy Janes and his wife Hilary formed Janes Aviation as a cargo airline at Southend Airport. The airline operated Douglas DC-3, Dart Herald aircraft. In 1992 the company was renamed Emerald Airways with new partners and an involvement with EuroManx it started low-cost passenger services. In October 2002, Emerald bought Exeter based Streamline Aviation.

In June 2005, EuroManx successfully bought the passenger service of Emerald Airways, which was operating low cost services from Liverpool John Lennon Airport to the Isle of Man, using BAe ATPs. The airline AOC licence was suspended in May 2006 and the company went into liquidation. [2]

Janes Aviation (2006-2010)

Andy Janes now without any connection to the failed Emerald Airways re-formed his original company Janes Aviation Limited in October 2006.

On 28 April 2008 the airline was granted a Type A Operating Licence from the United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority. [3] The airline also hold an Air Operators Certificate No. 2318 to operate the Hawker Siddeley 748. [4]

West Atlantic UK Limited, formerly Atlantic Airlines Ltd is a British cargo airline based at East Midlands Airport. It operates contract and ad hoc cargo flights worldwide, especially within Europe as part of the West Atlantic Group. The company's fleet is composed of Boeing 737 and ATR72 aircraft. The airline specialises in the transport of dangerous goods and radioactive products and other specialist aerial work, including oil spill response, dispersant spraying and icing trials. The prime activity of the business is the supply and operating of aircraft to night-time freight integrators and consolidators and the operation of ad hoc air charters on behalf of other airlines, freight brokers and forwarders. Emerald Airways

Emerald Airways was an airline based in Liverpool, United Kingdom. It operated contract and ad hoc freight services throughout the UK and Europe for postal, newspaper and freight companies and passenger services to Ireland under the brand FlyJem.

European Aviation Air Charter was an airline based in Bournemouth, United Kingdom. It operated ad hoc charter services, VIP flights, and inclusive-tour and sub-charter flights, as well as ACMI wet leases for other airlines. Its main base was Bournemouth Airport. The company went into administration on Tuesday 2 December 2008.

Flightline was an airline based in Southend-on-Sea, England. It operated branded wet lease, ad hoc and contract passenger and freight charter services, as well as VIP flights and aircraft sales and maintenance. Sub-services were flown for major airlines in Europe as required. Its main bases' were London Southend Airport.

Global Supply Systems (GSS) was a British cargo airline based at London Stansted Airport. It provided dedicated freighters to airlines on a wet lease basis. The company held a United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority Type A Operating Licence, it was permitted to carry passengers, cargo and mail on aircraft with 20 or more seats.

Highland Airways was an airline based in Inverness, Scotland. It ceased trading on 24 March 2010 after failing to secure new investment. The airline operated passenger and freight charters as well as scheduled services from its main base at Inverness Airport. Other services included newspaper distribution to the northern and Western Isles and, until recently, charter services for corporate clients. Highland Airways was under talks for a buyout by Perth-based, Air Charter Scotland. Aircraft were also based at Cardiff Airport.

EuroManx

EuroManx was a Manx airline based at Ronaldsway Airport, which operated scheduled domestic passenger services as well as business charters. On 9 May 2008 the airline announced that it was ceasing all operations, citing rising fuel prices and reduced passenger numbers as the reasons.

British NorthWest Airlines was an airline based at Blackpool International Airport.

Atlantic Express is an airline based at Exeter International Airport in the United Kingdom. It started operations in 2008 following the collapse in 2007 of the original airline which flew the route from Jersey Airport to London Stansted Airport. Services terminated on 15 January 2007. But services from Stansted to Jersey are going to restart in May 2009. The flights will be daily and operated with ATR 72 aircraft with airline, Aurigny.

Westward Airways is an airline based at Land's End Airport, near St Just and Penzance in Cornwall, England, UK. Until February 2009 it operated sight seeing flights in the local area, also running the former Lands End Flying School and is the operator of Land's End Airport. After a review of the operations, it was decided to close the Lands End Flying School as of Saturday 31 January 2009, after which point Westward Airways also terminated the operation of sightseeing flights. Whilst the two Cessna 152s will be disposed of, the remaining pair of Cessna 172s are to be transferred to Westward Airway's sister company; the Isles of Scilly Skybus, who will then resuming sightseeing flights under their own AOC.

TUI Airways British charter airline

TUI Airways Limited, and often referred to just as TUI, is a British charter airline, offering scheduled and charter flights from the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland to destinations in Europe, Africa, Asia and North America.

Intra Airways

Intra Airways Limited was a private, British independent airline formed in 1969. Initially, it was a charter airline operating passenger and cargo charters from the Channel Islands to the United Kingdom and Continental Europe. Scheduled services commenced in 1971, linking Jersey with Staverton. The airline also established an associated engineering company at Exeter Airport. In 1979, Intra Airways merged with Express Air Freight (C.I.) to form Jersey European Airways. The new entity was initially absorbed into Air Bridge Carriers (ABC), a Field Aviation/Hunting Group company. It subsequently left the Field Aviation/Hunting Group as a result of the demerger of Express Air Services, which had acquired Express Air Freight's cargo operation.

British Regional Airlines was a franchise partner of British Airways based in Manchester. They operated a large network of domestic and European services from many UK regional airports.

Jota Aviation is a British specialist charter airline based at London Biggin Hill Airport, United Kingdom, and with the related Jota Sport, Jota Design and Jota Historic divisions, forms the Jota Group.
