GroenLinks is a green political party in the Netherlands.
As of 24 March 2022,there are 344 municipalities and three special municipalities in the Netherlands. The latter is the status of three of the six island territories that make up the Dutch Caribbean. Municipalities are the second-level administrative division,or public bodies,in the Netherlands and are subdivisions of their respective provinces. Their duties are delegated to them by the central government and they are ruled by a municipal council that is elected every four years. Municipal mergers have reduced the total number of municipalities by two-thirds since the first official boundaries were created in the mid 19th century. Municipalities themselves are informally subdivided into districts and neighbourhoods for administrative and statistical purposes.
The Socialist Party is a democratic socialist political party in the Netherlands. Founded in 1971 as the Communist Party of the Netherlands/Marxist–Leninist,the party has since moderated itself from Marxism–Leninism and Maoism towards democratic socialism and social democracy. The SP has also been described as left-wing populist and soft Eurosceptic,and is an advocate of Dutch republicanism.
Johannes Guillaume Christianus Andreas "Jan" Marijnissen is a retired Dutch politician of the Socialist Party (SP).
Daniël Termont is a Belgian politician,member of the Socialist Party and former mayor of Ghent,Belgium. He was the son of shopkeepers who lived in Mariakerke. His mother's family was strongly socialistically engaged. In 1971,Daniel obtained a degree in accounting at the Stedelijk Instituut voor Handel en Secretariaat. He did his military service as from April 1972 until April 1973 and worked later on for ten years as a federal charge of LTA,the youth organization of the Socialist Unions at that time. Until 1980 he was also an information officer at the East Flemish Division in the area Ghent-Eeklo. He has been elected to the city council since 1976. Later on,from 1983 until 1988,he was also director of De Ceder holiday centre in Deinze. He was the first director of the centre after a renovation which followed after many years of decline of the institution. Subsequently,from 1988 to 1995,he was secretary-treasurer of Bond Moyson,the year he took his first full-time political office as a councilor in Ghent. From 1995 until 2006,he was alderman of the harbour. Between 2001 and 2006 he was also alderman of festivities.
In the Netherlands,the municipal executive is the executive board of a municipality. It plays a central role in municipal politics in the Netherlands,similar to the communal college in Belgium. It consists of the mayor and the members of the municipal executive (aldermen).
Municipal politics in the Netherlands is an important aspect of the politics of the Netherlands. The municipality is the lowest level of government,but this does not reflect the importance that the Amsterdam and Rotterdam governments play in Dutch political life. There are a total of 345 municipalities in the Netherlands.
Emile Gerardus Maria Roemer is a Dutch politician serving as King's Commissioner of Limburg since December 2021. A member of the Socialist Party (SP),he was its leader and parliamentary leader in the House of Representatives from 5 March 2010 until 13 December 2017. Roemer served as a member of the House of Representatives from 2006 until 2018,as acting Mayor of Heerlen from 2018 to 2020,and as acting mayor of Alkmaar from 2020 to 2021.
Leendert Arent-Willem de Lange is a Dutch politician. He has been mayor of Wassenaar since 18 July 2019. Previously he was a member of the House of Representatives for the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy,serving from 31 March 2015 to 23 March 2017 and once again from 31 October 2017 to 3 July 2019. De Lange was alderman in Noordwijk between 2006 and 2013 and in Wassenaar between 2013 and 2014 where he also served as deputy mayor.
Tom J.H. van den Nieuwenhuijzen-Wittens is a Dutch politician,who held a seat in the House of Representatives. He is a member of the green political party GroenLinks.
Gerard P. van den Anker is a Dutch politician,who served as a member of the House of Representatives between January and March 2021. He is a member of the Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA).
Johanna Jantina "Hanneke" van der Werf is a Dutch politician of the Democrats 66 (D66). She has been a member of the House of Representatives since the 2021 general election. She previously held a seat in the municipal council of The Hague (2014–2021) and worked for the D66 caucus in the House of Representatives (2010–2018).
Barbara C. Kathmann is a Dutch politician,serving as a member of the House of Representatives since 2021. She is a member of the Labour Party (PvdA). Before being elected to the House,she served as a municipal councilor and alderwoman in her hometown Rotterdam. Kathmann has also worked in media and at two nonprofit organizations.
A.H.J. "Daan" de Kort is a Dutch politician of the conservative liberal People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD). Born in Veldhoven,he served on that town's municipal council starting in 2014,and he became an alderman four years later. He was elected to the House of Representatives in the 2021 Dutch general election.
Fahid Bashir Minhas is a Dutch politician of the conservative liberal People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD). He worked as a real estate developer and became a member of the Schiedam municipal council in 2014. He then served as alderman in the same city between 2018 and 2021 and,while in that position,encouraged the construction of housing. Minhas was elected to the House of Representatives in the 2021 general election.
Johannes Jacobus "Jan" Klink is a Dutch civil servant and politician for the conservative liberal People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD). Born in the province of Groningen,he co-owned a dairy farm and worked at the Ministry of Economic Affairs,Agriculture and Innovation. He was elected to the Wijdemeren municipal council in 2018 and became an alderman shortly after. Klink was appointed to the House of Representatives in June 2021.
Wieke Paulusma is a Dutch health professional and politician for the social liberal party Democrats 66 (D66),who has been serving as a member of the House of Representatives since the 2021 general election. She started her career as a nurse and also worked as a health care manager. Besides,Paulusma served on the Groningen municipal council between 2014 and 2021.
Hatta Hannelore "Hatte" van der Woude is a Dutch politician,who has been representing the conservative liberal People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) in the House of Representatives since 2021. She started her career in Vietnam and Singapore and later worked for The Hague University of Applied Sciences as a researcher,lecturer,and policy advisor. Van der Woude was politically active in Delft's municipal council (2012–16) and as an alderwoman in that city (2018–21) before being elected to the House in the 2021 general election.
Songül Mutluer is a Dutch politician,serving as a member of the House of Representatives since 2022. She is a member of the Labour Party (PvdA) and has served as a Zaanstad municipal council member and alderwoman for fifteen years before. Having studied law,Mutluer has also worked as a legal professional and taught law at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
Conny Helder is a Dutch healthcare manager,who has been serving as Minister for Long-term Care and Sport as part of the fourth Rutte cabinet since 2022.
