Jared Wright is an American newspaper editor,editorial cartoonist,and former Colorado politician. He has also worked as a police officer. Wright served a single term in the Colorado House of Representatives from 2013 to 2015,representing House District 54 in Mesa and Delta counties. [1]
After leaving office,he was appointed editor and publisher of the Denver-based political newspaper The Colorado Statesman ,for which he had earlier been contributing political cartoons. Wright is from Fruita,Colorado and worked as a police officer there. [2]

Joseph D. Neguse is an American lawyer and politician serving as the U.S. representative for Colorado's 2nd congressional district since 2019. The district is based in Boulder and includes many of Denver's northwestern suburbs,as well as Fort Collins. A member of the Democratic Party,he was a regent of the University of Colorado from 2008 to 2015. Neguse is the first Eritrean-American elected to the United States Congress and Colorado's first black member of Congress. Neguse has served as House assistant Democratic leader since 2024.

Incumbent Democratic governor Jared Polis won re-election to a second term,defeating Republican University of Colorado regent Heidi Ganahl in a landslide. Ganahl conceded on election night. The primary election was held on June 28.
On March 22,2021,a mass shooting occurred at a King Soopers supermarket in Boulder,Colorado,United States. Ten people were killed,including a local on-duty police officer. The shooter,21-year-old Ahmad Al Aliwi Al-Issa,was arrested after being shot in the right leg. He was temporarily hospitalized before being moved to the county jail. After undergoing mental evaluations during the legal proceedings,Al-Issa was found mentally incompetent to stand trial in December 2021 and in April 2022. On August 23,2023,prosecutors announced that Al-Issa was mentally competent to stand trial;a judge ruled as such on October 6 of that same year. On September 23,2024,Al-Issa was found guilty in the shooting and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
