The 4R01 was a 4-speed automatic transmission from Nissan's Jatco subsidiary for rear wheel drive vehicles with longitudinal engines.
The RL4R01A is a hydraulic controlled unit for its main operation. Shift timing is based on throttle cable position and governor pressure. Its only electronic parts are two solenoids, one for the torque converter clutch, and the other for the manual overdrive cancel switch, but these do not affect the gears control and passing.
It is also called JR402 by Jatco.
The RE4R01A (or Jatco JR402E ) is a fully electronic controlled unit.
It is also called JR402E by Jatco and R4A-EL by Mazda.
Despite the internals are mostly the same, valve bodies, cases and housings have some divergences with the RL4R01A.
The RE4R01B is a RE4R01A with some little changes, like the valve body, filter, some solenoids and the band.
Like the RE4R01A, it is also called JR402E by Jatco.
For its four forward gear ratios and reverse, the 4R01 uses five clutch, one band and two one-way clutch.
There are some versions stronger than others. These can be either RL4R01A or RE4R01A. The differences between these versions are the number of discs of the High clutch (4 to 5) and Forward clutch (5 to 8).

The Nissan Pathfinder is a range of sport utility vehicles manufactured by Nissan since 1985. Until the third-generation model, the Pathfinder is based on Nissan's compact pickup truck platform which it shares with the Navara/Frontier. The front end of the D21 and R51 Pathfinder is notably identical with the Navara/Frontier up until the B-pillars.

The Nissan Cefiro is a front-engine, five passenger, mid-size passenger car manufactured and marketed by Nissan Motors over three generations. Almost all Cefiro's were marketed as four-door sedans, though a five-door wagon body style was briefly available (1997–2000). In most cases, the Cefiro used Nissan's VQ six-cylinder engines, named Ward's 10 Best Engines more than ten years running.
The VG engine family consists of V6 engines designed and produced by Nissan for several vehicles in the Nissan lineup. The VG series was introduced in 1983, becoming Nissan's and Japan's first mass-produced V6 engine. VG engines displace between 2.0 and 3.3 liters and feature an iron block and aluminum heads at a 60° vee-angle. The early VG engines featured a SOHC arrangement with two valves per cylinder. Later versions featured a slightly different block, a DOHC arrangement with four valves per cylinder, and N-VCT, Nissan's own version of variable valve timing, for a smoother idle and more torque at low to medium engine speeds. The production blocks and production head castings were used successfully in the Nissan GTP ZX-Turbo and NPT-90 race cars which won the IMSA GT Championship three years in a row.
The KA engines were a series of four-stroke inline-four gasoline piston engines manufactured by Nissan, which were offered in 2.0 and 2.4 L. The engines blocks were made of cast-iron, while the cylinder heads were made of aluminum.
The Nissan Xterra is a truck-based compact SUV manufactured and marketed by Nissan from 1999–2015 across two generations; the first (1999–2004) sharing a platform as well as front bumper, hood, A-pillar, windshield and front doors with the Nissan Frontier pickup – and the second (2005–2015) also sharing its platform with the Frontier and Pathfinder.
The Nissan Armada is a full-size SUV manufactured by Nissan for the North American market. From 2003 to 2015, the first-generation Armada was assembled in Canton, Mississippi based on the Nissan Titan. From mid-2016 onwards, the second-generation Armada has been built in Yukuhashi, Kyushu, Japan and shares the same platform as the Nissan Patrol, with American-specific modifications, and went on sale in late mid-2016 as a 2017 model. A luxury version of the Armada has been sold as the Infiniti QX80.
The Datsun Truck is a compact pickup truck made by Nissan in Japan from 1955 through 1997. It was originally sold under the Datsun brand, but this was switched to Nissan in 1983. It was replaced in 1997 by the Frontier and Navara. In Japan, it was sold only in Nissan Bluebird Store locations.

The Jatco 3N71 transmission was the first 3-speed automatic transmission from Nissan. It was an introduced as a conventional alternative to the then-ubiquitous and popular Borg-Warner Type 35. It was designed for use with rear wheel drive vehicles with longitudinal engines. In 1982, it gained a locking torque converter (L3N71b) for greater efficiency, and gained an overdrive section in 1983 (L4N71b), culminating with preliminary electronic sensors and control functions being added in 1985 (E4N71b).
The 4N71 was a 4-speed automatic transmission from Nissan Motors. It was available as either a light-duty ("L4N71B") or medium-duty ("E4N71B") unit for rear wheel drive vehicles with longitudinal engines. The latter used an electronically controlled lock up torque converter.
The Nissan Terrano II is a compact SUV manufactured by the Japanese automaker Nissan from 1993 to 2005. It was also made by Nissan's Spanish subsidiary Nissan Motor Ibérica S.A. for the European market, where it was marketed as the Terrano II, and also supplied under an OEM agreement to Ford Europe for sale as the Ford Maverick on the continent and in the United Kingdom.
The 5R05, also called RE5R05A, JR507E/JR509E or TG5C/TG5D "5EAT", is a Jatco 5-speed automatic transmission, released in 2002, used in rear wheel drive or 4X4 vehicles with longitudinal engines. It shares little to nothing in common with the older 5R01 transmission.
The 4R03 was a 4-speed automatic transmission from Nissan Motor Company, Ltd.'s Jatco subsidiary.
The Nissan Silvia is the series of small sports cars produced by Nissan. Versions of the Silvia have been marketed as the 200SX or 240SX for export, with some export versions being sold under the Datsun brand.
