Jawker Dhan (The Treasure of Ghost) is a Bengali action adventure film of 2017 directed by Sayantan Ghosal. [1] This movie was based on the adventure story of Bimal-Kumar duos of Hemendra Kumar Roy in the same name. [2] [3] In 1939, another Bengali film Jakher Dhan was made by director Haricharan Bhanja starring Ahindra Choudhury, Chhaya Devi and Jahar Ganguly. [4] [5] A sequel titled Sagardwipey Jawker Dhan was released in 2019. Addatimes streamed this on 15 April 2021 on the OTT platform.

Plot

Kumar discovers a puzzle engraved in a human skull. The skull was stored by his grandfather long ago. Unable to solve the puzzle, he consults his close friend Bimal to find out the secret behind it. Bimal is adventurous and also a professor of Anthropometry. They solve the puzzle and realise that this is nothing but a clue of a hidden Tibetan treasure which is concealed in an undisclosed spot in the dense jungles of Neora Valley. By this time, Bimal's elder brother, Hiranmoy, is kidnapped by an unknown group. Bimal and Kumar together start an adventure to recover the treasure and rescue Hiranmoy but Karali is also in a hunt for this treasure. Karali is ruthless and dares to capture the treasure at any cost. [6]

Devdas is a 1955 Indian Hindi-language period drama film directed by Bimal Roy, based on the Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay novel Devdas. It starred Dilip Kumar in the titular role, Suchitra Sen in her Bollywood debut as Parvati "Paro", Vyjayanthimala in her first dramatic role where she played tawaif named Chandramukhi. Motilal, Nazir Hussain, Murad, Pratima Devi, Iftekhar, Shivraj were playing other significant roles along with Pran, Johnny Walker in extended cameo appearances.

Hemendra Kumar Roy was an Indian Bengali writer noted for his contribution to the early development of the genre of children's literature in the language. He was a noted contributor to the early development of Bengali detective fiction with his 'Jayanta-Manik' and adventurist 'Bimal-Kumar' stories, dealing with the exploits of Jayanta, his assistant Manik, and police inspector Sunderbabu. Roy also translated the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyám into Bengali. Roy's 'Ajab Deshe Amala' is a well-known translation of Alice in Wonderland.

Nitin Bose was an Indian film director, cinematographer and screenwriter of the nation's film industry. He was born in Calcutta and died in the same city. Through his career he earned commercial as well as critical success, and he remains as an Bengal's cultural icon. For his ability to play roles of various types, Kumar is regarded as one of the greatest and most versatile actors in the history of Indian Cinema and is called as Mahanayak. Kumar was one of the most popular and successful actors in Bengali Cinema history. He debuted as Arun Kumar Chatterjee as a child artist in the 1948 film Drishtidaan directed by Nitin Bose. The film was unsuccessful. Next year he appeared as a leading hero as Uttam Chatterjee in the film Kamona 1949 which was flop again. He changed name again as Arup Kumar. In 1951 film Sahajatri he kept his name permanently as Uttam Kumar. But he gave back to back seven flop films and was stated as flop master general.

Arunoday Banerjee, known as "Rahul",, is an Indian Bengali actor. He has worked in films and TV. Banerjee made his stage appearance at the age of three with his father's theater troupe Bijoygarh Atmaprakash play entitled Raj Darshan. Since then, he has acted in almost 450 stage shows, with his father's troupe and with Theatron. He is married to co-actress Priyanka Sarkar. Sagardwipey Jawker Dhan is a 2019 Bengali action adventure film directed by Sayantan Ghosal and written by Sougata Basu with influence of the original story by Hemendra Kumar Roy. The film is based on the adventure story of Bimal-Kumar duo written by Hemendra Kumar Roy. It is the second movie after Jawker Dhan. The film had a theatrical release on 6 December 2019.

Sayantan Ghosal is an Indian film director and editor in Bengali cinema. He has directed several movies, including Jawker Dhan, Sagardwipey Jawker Dhan, and Satyanweshi Byomkesh. He directed Byomkesh Season 1-Season 3 for the streaming service Hoichoi, and his web series Lalbazaar is currently streaming on ZEE5.

Hrad is a Bengali drama film directed by Ardhendu Sen. The film starring Uttam Kumar, Sandhyarani, Chhabi Biswas, Asit Baran. This film was released on 29 July 1955 under the banner of Rupmaya films. The story was based on Bimal Kar's novel of same name. The film showed to Uttam's one of the most different and critical character, where he played a memory lost patient and give one of the finest performance in his entire career. Uttam received for the first time BFJA Best Actor Award in his career. The famous music composer Manabendra Mukhopadhyay was the music director of the film. This was a mental health and a psychological treatment film. The film became moderate success at the box office.

Jakher Dhan is a Bengali adventure thriller film directed by Haricharan Bhanja based on a same name novel of Hemendra Kumar Roy. This is the first film of Bimal-Kumar series, released on 1 April 1939 under the banner of East India Film Company.
