Janum Khan, better known by his stage name Jaykae, is a British rapper and actor from Small Heath, Birmingham. [1]
Jaykae's start with music began when he started listening to other grime artists from London.
In 2017 he released a single, "Every Country," featuring Murkage Dave of the Murkage cartel. The song, produced by Skepta, was Radio 1's Tune of the Week. [2] He has featured on Charlie Sloth's BBC show, Fire In The Booth , where he performed a two piece set which reflected on life and the recent passing of fellow grime artist and friend, Depzman. He has performed on the BBC radio show segment, The BBC Live Lounge, where he performed two of his own songs, "Moscow" and "Toothache", and also a cover of Cameo's "Candy". He featured on Skepta's All-Star Remix of the single '"That's not me". He collaborated with Mike Skinner (of The Streets) producing the tracks "CCTV" and "Boys Will Be Boys". [7] Jaykae has performed at Glastonbury, MADE, Reading Festival, Creamfields and Wireless Festival. [8] [9] [10] [11] He supported Skepta on his Konnichiwa tour, supported Stormzy at one of his gigs, and will also be supporting The Streets on their upcoming Greatest Hits tour.[ needs update ] Jaykae was brought out at Drake's 2019 Birmingham concert. Jaykae completed his first solo headline tour in December 2017, where he performed in Manchester, London and Birmingham.[ citation needed ]

Khan plays Azaar, a cocaine dealer in Small Heath, in season two of the BBC Three comedy-drama, Man Like Mobeen . [13] [14] In 2018, he appeared as himself on season three of Chicken Shop Date. [15]
In the Amazon Prime Video series, Jungle, Khan plays Willow, an associate of one of the show's main villains. [16] An Evening Standard review of the show states that Khan "lends a disconcerting lightness to his gangster role." [17]
Khan was born and raised in Small Heath, Birmingham, and has Afghan, Egyptian, Irish and Pakistani heritage. [18] He is an avid supporter of his local football club Birmingham City. He had a difficult childhood and was bullied as a young child[ citation needed ]

UK rap, also known as British hip hop or UK hip hop, is a genre of music, and a culture that covers a variety of styles of hip hop music made in the United Kingdom. It is generally classified as one of a number of styles of R&B/Hip-Hop. British hip hop can also be referred to as Brit-hop, a term coined and popularised mainly by British Vogue magazine and the BBC. British hip hop was originally influenced by the dub/toasting introduced to the United Kingdom by Jamaican migrants in the 1950s–70s, who eventually developed uniquely influenced rapping in order to match the rhythm of the ever-increasing pace and aggression of Jamaican-influenced dub in the UK. Toasting and soundsystem cultures were also influential in genres outside of hip hop that still included rapping – such as grime, jungle, and UK garage.
Grime is a genre of electronic dance music (EDM) that emerged in London in the early 2000s. It developed out of the earlier UK dance style UK garage, and draws influences from jungle, dancehall, and hip hop. The style is typified by rapid, syncopated breakbeats, generally around 140 beats per minute, and often features an aggressive or jagged electronic sound. Emceeing is a significant element of the style, and lyrics often revolve around gritty depictions of urban life.
Kane Brett Robinson, better known as Kano, is a British rapper, songwriter and actor from East Ham, London. A significant contributor to grime music, he is widely considered one of the pioneers of the grime culture, alongside artists such as Wiley and Dizzee Rascal. His fifth album, Made in the Manor was shortlisted for the 2016 Mercury Prize and won Best Album at the 2016 MOBO Awards. On screen, he is best known for playing the role of Sully in Top Boy.
DJ Semtex, born John Fairbanks, is an English DJ, author, radio DJ and presenter of Spotify's Who We Be podcast. Between 2002 and 2018, he was presenter for BBC Radio 1Xtra's weekly hip-hop show.
Justin Jude Clarke-Samuels, better known by his stage name Ghetts, is a British grime MC, rapper and songwriter. His music has been played on national radio stations such as BBC Radio 1, Kiss 100, BBC Asian Network, and BBC Radio 1Xtra. Currently, Ghetts is signed to independent record label Disrupt, and released his debut studio album, Rebel with a Cause, on 9 March 2014. Known for his hard hitting lyrics and intricate rhyme schemes, he is associated and has toured internationally with such acts as Kano and was a member of NASTY Crew.
Logan Sama is an English Grime DJ from Brentwood, Essex. He has appeared regularly throughout his career on radio stations Rinse, Kiss 100 and BBC Radio 1. He also runs the record labels Adamantium Music, Earth616 and KeepinItGrimy through which he has released projects for artists and producers across vinyl and digital formats. He also founded KeepinItGrimy, a brand entirely focused on Grime activity.
Joseph Olaitan Adenuga Jr., known professionally as Skepta, is a British grime MC, rapper, record producer and DJ. Alongside his younger brother Jme, he briefly joined Roll Deep before they became founding members of Boy Better Know in 2005. With Boy Better Know, Skepta clashed with fellow MC Devilman for the video release Lord of the Mics 2, in what is remembered as one of the biggest clashes in grime history.
DJ Cable is a British DJ, based in Essex, England. Notable for winning numerous DJ competitions, such as the DMC UK Team Championships and the "Alizé Remixed" DJ competition, he was the tour DJ for Willy Moon for his 2012 European dates, and previously for UK singer/songwriter Yasmin. A fast-paced, choppy style of delivery has led him to be compared to fellow London rapper Dizzee Rascal. He has worked with Tinie Tempah, Chipmunk, and Wiley.
Ashley Dorothy Charles, also known as Amplify Dot, A.Dot or Dotty, is an English rapper, DJ, and radio and television presenter. She is best-known for presenting on BBC Radio 1Xtra from 2014 to 2020 and co-presenting the BBC One show Sounds Like Friday Night alongside Greg James from 2017 to 2018.

Aaron Daniel Davies, better known by his stage name Bugzy Malone, is a British rapper and actor from Manchester, England. Malone has been described as one of the key artists instigating a "grime revival" moving the UK urban scene away from more commercially-oriented music, and the first artist in the grime genre from Manchester to commercially succeed in the UK.
Benjamin Gerard Coyle-Larner, known professionally as Loyle Carner, is an English hip hop musician. After supporting various rappers during their tours, he released his debut album, Yesterday's Gone, in 2017, which garnered a nomination for the 2017 Mercury Prize. He released his second album, Not Waving, but Drowning, in April 2019, and his third, hugo, in October 2022. Carner has been nominated for three Brit Awards.

Achi Avelino, better known mononymously by his stage name Avelino, is a British rapper and singer of Congolese and Angolan descent from Tottenham, London, known for his "unique tone" and "deep wordplay".
Konnichiwa is the fourth studio album by British rapper Skepta. The title is the greeting "hello" in the Japanese language. After numerous delays, it was released on 6 May 2016 by Boy Better Know. Konnichiwa features guest appearances from Jme, Boy Better Know, D Double E, Novelist, Wiley, Chip, Pharrell Williams, ASAP Nast and Young Lord. Konnichiwa was executively produced by Skepta himself, who produced all but three songs on the album. Pharrell also worked on production with Skepta on the album.

Man Like Mobeen is a British comedy-drama television series created by Guz Khan and Andy Milligan that premiered on BBC Three on 17 December 2017. Set in the Small Heath area of Birmingham, the series stars Khan as Mobeen, a former drug dealer who now tries to live a good life as a Muslim while raising his younger sister Aqsa in the absence of their parents and spending time with his friends Nate and Eight. By portraying the experience of second generation immigrants, the series is an innovative "transcultural comedy" - comically fusing West Midlands, working-class traditions with Pakistani-Muslim culture.
