Born in Odisha, India, Tripathi completed her M.A. in English from Delhi University in 1978. She later earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Rights Law from the National Law School of India University in 2001. Her early career included brief stints in print media during the 1980s. [1] [2]

During the COVID-19 pandemic her poems examined the uncertainties of the era. [5]
