Jeff Wayne Nygaard (born August 3, 1972, in Madison, Wisconsin) is an American former volleyball player. He was a member of the United States national indoor team in the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta and the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. [1] He was a middle blocker. [2] He also played beach volleyball at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens with partner Dain Blanton. [2] [1]
Nygaard attended La Follette High School in Madison, Wisconsin, where he played volleyball and was MVP of his state in 1991. [3] Nygaard helped La Follette win state championships in 1987 and 1989, and finish second in the state in 1988. [3] [4]
Nygaard played college volleyball at UCLA and was named National Player of the Year in 1994 and 1995. [4] He also won NCAA Championships while playing for the Bruins in 1993 and 1995, and was named NCAA Championship tournament Most Outstanding Player in 1995. [4] [5]
In 2007, Nygaard was inducted into the UCLA Hall of Fame. [6]
Nygaard played professional beach volleyball from 2001 to 2011, winning almost $500,000 in career earnings. [2] In total, he won seven AVP tournaments and one FIVB tournament. [4] [2] In 2003, he was selected as the AVP Most Valuable Player. [2]
Nygaard was an assistant coach for the Whittier College women's volleyball team in 2009. [4] Nygaard is currently the head coach of the USC Trojans men's volleyball team. [4]
Misty Elizabeth May-Treanor is a retired American professional beach volleyball player. She is a three-time Olympic gold medalist, and as of August 2012, was the most successful female beach volleyball player having won 112 tournaments in domestic and international competition.
Charles Frederick "Karch" Kiraly is an American volleyball player, coach, and broadcast announcer. He was a central part of the U.S National Team that won gold medals at the 1984 and 1988 Olympic Games. He went on to win the gold medal again at the 1996 Olympic Games, the first Olympic competition to feature beach volleyball. He is the only player to have won Olympic medals of any color in both the indoor and beach volleyball categories. He played college volleyball for the UCLA Bruins, where his teams won three national championships under head coach Al Scates.
Elaine Youngs is an American former professional volleyball player who competed both indoors and on the beach.
Christopher St. John "Sinjin" Smith is an American former professional beach volleyball player. He was the first player to win 100 career tournaments, and won numerous Manhattan Open titles with Karch Kiraly and Randy Stoklos as partners.
Dain Blanton is an American former beach volleyball player who won the gold medal in beach volleyball in the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney with partner Eric Fonoimoana. He returned to the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens with partner Jeff Nygaard, becoming the first two-time U.S. male beach volleyball Olympian.
Douglas Scott "Dusty" Dvorak is a former volleyball player from the United States. Dvorak was a member of the United States national volleyball team that won the gold medal at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. He is regarded as one of the greatest setters of all time.

Sara Elizabeth Hughes is an American beach volleyball player. With teammate Kelly Cheng, she achieved a career-high world ranking of No. 2 in August 2023. Hughes has won six tournaments on the AVP Pro Tour and seven gold medals, one silver medal, and three bronze medals on the FIVB World Tour/Pro Beach Tour.
Sarah Marie Sponcil is an American volleyball player for the Grand Rapids Rise of the Pro Volleyball Federation, best known for her beach volleyball career. Sarah competed for the USA Volleyball Beach National Team in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. Sarah and partner Kelly Claes tied for 9th in their debut Olympics. At 24 and 25, Sponcil and Claes, respectively, were the youngest beach volleyball team to represent the USA since its inception as an Olympic sport in 1996.
