Jelaiah (Arabic : جليعة, romanized: Julay‘ah) is a district in Qatar, located in the municipality of Ad Dawhah. [2] [3] Together with Al Tarfa and Jeryan Nejaima, it makes up Zone 68 which has a total population of 5,521 as of 2015. [3]

Contents

The district hosts the Canadian Veterinary Hospital Doha [4] and has hosted the Embassy of the Philippines in Doha since January 2013. [5]

Etymology

In local dialect, "jelaiah" is the pronunciation of the Arabic word "qelaia", which itself is derived from "qalaa", which translates to "fort". This name was bestowed on the district in honor of a small fort that is found in the area. [2]

Jeryan Nejaima is a district in Qatar, located in the municipality of Ad Dawhah. It is primarily a residential district containing many villas.

Abu Nakhla is a district in Qatar, located in the municipality of Al-Shahaniya. Previously a village of some importance stood here, but by the 21st century was largely depopulated. It was recorded as a stand-alone district in zone no. 81 with Al Mukaynis in the 2004 census, but both districts lost their census designations to Mebaireek. In 2014, Abu Nakhla was moved from Al Rayyan Municipality to the newly created Al-Shahaniya Municipality.
