Jeremiah Johnson (born 1972) [2] is an American blues singer, guitarist and songwriter. His music blends elements of St. Louis blues, southern rock, and country. [1] His 2016 album release, Blues Heart Attack, reached No. 5 in the Billboard Blues Albums Chart.
Born in St. Louis, Missouri, United States, [1] Johnson had parents who were both fans of blues music. [3] His father named him for the 1972 western film of the same name. [2] Johnson had ukulele lessons at the age of four, [2] although his love of watching cartoons on the television meant that it was in his teenage years before he started taking guitar playing more seriously. Originally concentrating on jazz while at college and later rock music, Johnson met blues playing musicians in Soulard, St. Louis. [4] For most of his performing career, Johnson has also worked in his day job as a billboard labourer. [3] He spent a decade living and working on the Gulf Coast in Texas. Johnson was a first place finalist in the Houston, Texas, Regional Blues Challenge, sponsored by The Houston Blues Society in 2004, 2005 and 2006. In 2011, he was the winner of the St. Louis Blues Society International Blues Challenge, and went on to the semi-finals to represent St. Louis in Memphis, Tennessee. [5]
In early 2009, Johnson relocated back to St. Louis, [6] and formed the Jeremiah Johnson Band shortly thereafter.
In a review of the November 2010 release 9th & Russell, one music critic stated "everything here is 1st class: musicianship, singing, production, artwork, and especially the songs". [7] Johnson's music was backed both by his own band and the Sliders. The latter are a horn section consisting of Jim Rosse (trumpet) and Stuart Williams (saxophone). Long-term performers on the St. Louis blues and R&B circuit, they have played in Johnnie Johnson's own band and toured with Little Feat and Bob Weir. [7] In 2011, their joint follow-up effort, Brand Spank'n Blue, was released on CD Baby. [8]
In 2014, film maker Gary Glenn filmed a Johnson concert as the basis of his docu-concert film named Ride the Blues. [2] In 2015, Johnson played at the Bonita Blues Festival in Bonita Springs, Florida. [5]
Johnson's 2015 release, Grind, spent a number of weeks on the Billboard Blues Albums Chart, with a peak position of No. 8. [9] The album was produced by Devon Allman, [3] and featured Yonrico Scott as guest drummer. [10]
Johnson's 2016 release, Blues Heart Attack, spent five weeks in the top 15 and peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard Blues Chart. The album was produced by Jason McIntire and Jeremiah Johnson at Sawhorse Studios in St Louis, Missouri. Many of the songs and the album spent more than half the year in the top of the radio charts according to the Roots Music Report.[ citation needed ]

Ruf Records released Johnson's 2020 album, Heavens to Betsy. It debuted at No. 3 and later moved up to the No. 1 position on the Billboard Blues Chart. 461 Ocean Boulevard is the second solo studio album by English musician Eric Clapton. It was released in late July 1974 by RSO Records, after the record company released the hit single "I Shot the Sheriff" earlier in the month. Let It Bleed is the eighth studio album by the English rock band the Rolling Stones, released on 28 November 1969 by London Records in the United States and on 5 December 1969 by Decca Records in the United Kingdom. Released during the band's 1969 American Tour, it is the follow-up to Beggars Banquet (1968), and like that album is a return to the group's more blues-oriented approach that was prominent in the pre-Aftermath (1966) period of their career. Me and Mr. Johnson is the fifteenth solo studio album recorded by Eric Clapton, released in March 2004 by Reprise Records. It consists of covers of songs written and originally recorded by Robert Johnson. The album cover was painted by Sir Peter Blake, using a series of photographs of Clapton. Clapton had planned to record an album of new material, but by the time of the recording sessions there were not enough new songs written, so the band instead recorded a series of Johnson songs.

The Kentucky Headhunters are an American country rock and Southern rock band originating in the state of Kentucky. The band's members are Doug Phelps, Greg Martin, and brothers Richard Young and Fred Young. It was founded in 1968 as Itchy Brother, which consisted of the Young brothers and Martin, along with Anthony Kenney on bass guitar and vocals. Itchy Brother performed until 1982, with James Harrison replacing Martin from 1973 to 1976. The Youngs and Martin began performing as The Kentucky Headhunters in 1986, adding brothers Ricky Lee Phelps and Doug Phelps to the membership.

"California Sun" is a rock song first recorded by American rhythm and blues singer Joe Jones. Henry Glover is credited on the original 45 rpm single as the songwriter, although Roulette Records owner Morris Levy's name sometimes incorrectly appears on re-issues. In 1961, Roulette issued the song with "Please Don't Talk About Me When I'm Gone" as the B-side. The single reached number 89 on Billboard's Hot 100.

Devon Allman is an American guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, and record producer. He is the son of musician and singer-songwriter Gregg Allman and has appeared occasionally as a guest musician for Gregg Allman and The Allman Brothers Band. Allman was the founder and bandleader of Honeytribe, also known as Devon Allman's Honeytribe, with whom he released two albums and toured across North America and Europe. Prior to Honeytribe, Allman contributed to several other musical recordings, notably Vargas Blues Band and the A Song for My Father compilation album. He was one of the original members of Royal Southern Brotherhood and contributed to their first two studio albums and toured with them. In 2013, Allman launched his solo career as the Devon Allman Band, and has since released three albums. His latest tour, branded as the Devon Allman Project, features special guest Duane Betts.
