Jeremy Ito (born March 4, 1986) is a former placekicker and punter for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights NCAA Division I-A football team. He was most recently a kicker for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League. Ito is half Japanese. During his career at Rutgers, he was given the nickname "The Judge" - after Lance Ito, by fans for his clutch, game kicking performances. [1]

High school

Ito attended Redlands High School in Redlands, California and was a student and a letterman in football, soccer, and golf. In football, he was a three-time All-Citrus Belt League selection.

College career

Ito had a career field goals made percentage of 72.1, connecting on 80 of 111 attempts for the Scarlet Knights. [2] A career highlight is a 28-yard game-winning field goal against the Louisville Cardinals in an upset victory on November 9, 2006, by a score of 28-25. [3] The victory elevated Rutgers to # 7 in the country, their highest ranking ever. Ito was not drafted in the 2008 NFL Draft.

Professional career

In 2008, Ito was signed by the Saints, but was released at the beginning of the season. [4]

On October 10, 2009, Ito was added to the practice roster of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the Canadian Football League. [5] On November 8, 2009, he made his regular-season debut, kicking three field goals in Hamilton's victory over Winnipeg. [6] On May 12, 2010, Ito was released by the Tiger-Cats. [7]

Mark Washington (Canadian football) Canadian football player and coach

Mark Washington is the defensive coordinator for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He is also a retired professional Canadian football defensive back in the CFL, having played for the Montreal Alouettes and the BC Lions over 11 seasons. After his retirement, he joined the Lions as the defensive backs coach, and was promoted to defensive coordinator for the 2014 BC Lions season.

The Kansas City Chiefs selected him in the fifth round of the 2007 NFL Draft. The Hamilton Tigers were a Canadian football team based in Hamilton, Ontario that played in the Ontario Rugby Football Union from 1883 to 1906 and 1948 to 1949 and in the Interprovincial Rugby Football Union from 1907 to 1947. The club was a founding member of both the ORFU in 1883 and the IRFU in 1907. Throughout their history, the Tigers won five Grey Cup Championships and two Dominion Championships, including the 1908 title, the year before the Grey Cup was first awarded. After struggling to compete on a sound financial level with the Hamilton Wildcats, who had joined the ORFU in 1941 and later the IRFU, the two clubs merged in 1950 to form the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

The 2008 Hamilton Tiger-Cats season was the 51st season for the team in the Canadian Football League and their 59th overall. The Tiger-Cats attempted to win their 9th Grey Cup championship, but they failed to make the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season, which is the longest playoff drought in franchise history.

2009 BC Lions season

The 2009 BC Lions season was the 52nd season for the team in the Canadian Football League and their 56th overall. The Lions finished the season in fourth place in the West Division with a disappointing 8–10 record after losing their last three regular season games. While it was their first losing record since 2001, they still managed to play in the East-Semi Final playoff game against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats after that same team eliminated the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the last game of the season. The Lions would go on to play in the first East Final in franchise history, which they lost to the Montreal Alouettes. It was the sixth consecutive appearance for the Lions in a division final and the third consecutive season that their season was ended by the eventual Grey Cup champions.

Chevon Walker is a former professional Canadian football running back and kick returner. He played NCAA football for the Sioux Falls Cougars. He played two years of his career as a professional football player in the Canadian Football League for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. In 2014, the Ottawa Redblacks selected him in the expansion draft. Janarion Grant American gridiron football player (born 1993)

Janarion Grant is an American professional football player who is a return specialist for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He won the 107th Grey Cup with the Blue Bombers when they defeated the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 33–12. He played college football at Rutgers and signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2018.

108th Grey Cup Canadian Football League championship game for the 2021 season

The 108th Grey Cup decided the Canadian Football League (CFL) championship for the 2021 season. The game was played on December 12 between the defending Grey Cup champion Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ontario. The Blue Bombers defeated the Tiger-Cats 33–25 in overtime for their second straight title, making them the first team in 11 years to do so. This game was also the fourth Grey Cup to go into overtime, with the other three instances coming in 1961, 2005 and 2016.
