Jerry Cheynet is the coordinator of soccer operations at Virginia Tech. [1]
From 1974 to 2001, he was Virginia Tech's head soccer coach. He took over the program in its third year of existence, and compiled a 238-212-37 record overall. His win total remains, by far, the most of any Hokies soccer coach. He was named Atlantic 10 Conference coach of the year in 1997, when he led the team to a 14-5-1 record.
He also served as the school's wrestling coach from 1975 to 1995, [2] posting a record of 188-161-6. He was named Colonial Athletic Association coach of the year in 1993. He also served as the school's head golf coach [2] from 1980 to 1983. He is a graduate of Kansas State University.
Franklin Mitchell Beamer is a retired American college football coach, most notably for the Virginia Tech Hokies, and former college football player. He is the father of current South Carolina Gamecocks head coach Shane Beamer.
Frank Loria was an American football defensive back. He was born in the town of Clarksburg, West Virginia in Harrison County and was a three sport athlete at Notre Dame Catholic High School.
Kevin Dresser is a collegiate wrestling coach, currently at Iowa State University and formerly at Virginia Tech (2006–2017). Dresser had also been a coach at Christiansburg HS, Grundy HS, and an assistant at the University of Iowa, after having wrestled for the Hawkeyes.

James C. Weaver was an American college football player and coach and college athletics administrator. He was the head football coach at Villanova University for the first eight games of the 1974 season, compiling a record of 3–5. Weaver was the athletic director at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) from 1991 to 1994, Western Michigan University from 1996 to 1997, and Virginia Tech from 1997 to 2014.
The Virginia Tech Hokies football team represents Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in the sport of American football. The Hokies compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Coastal Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference. They previously competed in the Big East. Their home games are played at Lane Stadium, located in Blacksburg, Virginia, with a seating capacity of over 65,000 fans. Lane Stadium is considered to be one of the loudest stadiums in the country, being voted number two in ESPN's 2007 "Top 20 Scariest Places to Play". The 1966 Liberty Bowl was a post-season American college football bowl game between the VPI Gobblers and the Miami Hurricanes, both independent programs. The eighth edition of the Liberty Bowl, it was played on December 10, 1966, at Memphis Memorial Stadium in Memphis, Tennessee. The game was the final contest of the 1966 NCAA University Division football season for both teams, and ended in a 14–7 victory for Miami. A then-record 39,101 tickets were sold for the game, but due to 36 °F (2 °C) temperatures at game time, only 25,012 spectators attended.
Angela Tincher O'Brien is an American, former collegiate All-American, retired professional All-Star softball pitcher and coach. She most recently served as the pitching coach at Virginia Tech. She was a 2008 first-round draft selection for the NPF Akron Racers. She is a graduate of James River High School and a 2008 graduate of Virginia Tech. In 2013, she was hired as Virginia Tech's softball pitching coach where she owns numerous school records. She is the ACC career leader in wins, strikeouts, shutouts, innings pitched, strikeout ratio and no-hitters, while also ranking in several records for the NCAA Division I, where she is one of five pitchers to achieve 100 wins, 1,000 strikeouts, an ERA under 1.00 and average double-digit strikeouts for her career.
The Virginia Tech Hokies women's soccer team began in 1980 with two club teams under the guidance of Everett Germain and his two daughter's Betsy and Julie. Virginia Tech's women's soccer became a college soccer program that competes in NCAA Division I in 1993. The team played in the A-10 and the Big East before moving to the Coastal Division of Atlantic Coast Conference in 2014. The team has advanced to the NCAA Women's soccer tournament nine times. Their best appearance is reaching the semifinals in 2013. Their home games are played at Sandra D. Thompson Field.

Oliver Weiss is a German-born, U.S.-based soccer coach, who worked successfully over a 14-year span (1995–2009) at the NCAA division I level. He was the head men's soccer coach at Virginia Tech from 2002 through 2009. Under Weiss Virginia Tech played in the national semifinals of the NCAA soccer tournament in 2007 and reaching a number 3 final national ranking. The program appeared in a total of four NCAA tournaments, all under Weiss' tutelage. His winning percentage of .574 and 73-52-17 win-loss-tie remain records at the school.
Shane Beamer is an American football coach and former player who is currently the head coach at the University of South Carolina. He is the son of former Virginia Tech football coach Frank Beamer.
