Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 9 is the ninth season of the dance reality show, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa . It premiered on 30 July 2016 on Colors. [1] The season was hosted by Manish Paul and judged by Jacqueline Fernandez, Karan Johar, Ganesh Hegde and Farah Khan. The season ran from 30 July 2016 to 21 January 2017. This season's winner was Teriya Magar.
Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa has no audience voting in this season. Eviction is based on two specific criteria: judges' scores and the live studio audience scores. In semi finale, it was announced that audience can vote for the winner. Voting lines were open only for five days. Thus, now the elimination is done right in the end of the episode, unlike the previous seasons where elimination would be done in the beginning of next week's episode.
The show started with 12 couples. In 8 October episode, 5 WildCard entries were introduced by Farah Khan (who too joined the show as a judge).

The series was announced in March 2016. In May 2016, Manish Paul was confirmed to return as the presenter of the series. In June 2016, Jacqueline Fernandez, Karan Johar and Ganesh Hegde were confirmed as the judges. [16]
In September 2016, Govinda replaced Johar for one episode. Farah Khan replaced Hegde in November 2016
The channel released its first promo in June 2016. [17] Later the series released another promo introducing its first to contestants Karishma Tanna and Surveen Chawla.

Surveen Chawla is an Indian actress and dancer who appears in Hindi films and television. She started her career with television shows like Kahin to Hoga and Kajjal. She is known for her roles in movies and shows like Hate Story 2 (2014), Ugly (2013), Parched (2015) and 24 (2016) along with many other films. In 2018, she was seen in the Hindi web series Haq Se.
Lauren Gottlieb is an American dancer and actress who works mainly in the Indian film industry. She was a contestant on the third season of the reality dance competition So You Think You Can Dance and played the lead role in the 2013 Indian dance film ABCD: Any Body Can Dance. She was a runner up in the sixth season of popular Indian television dance show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa with choreographer and partner Punit Pathak in 2013. She is best known for her role as Bharti in Bhaskar Bharti and Suhana Kashyap in Sasural Genda Phool. She was a contestant on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 4 in 2010. She also appeared in Comedy Nights with Kapil portraying many characters.

The finale took place on 14 September 2013 and where Drashti Dhami with Salman Yusuff Khan emerged as the winners while Lauren Gottlieb and Punit Pathak became the runner-up.

She came into the public spotlight during her performances on the dance competition television series Dance India Dance Li'l Masters which she won on 21 June 2014. She is also the winner of Colors TV dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa which she won on 21 January 2017. Teriya is the second daughter born to her parents, and attended St. Lawrence High School in Vashi, Navi Mumbai, India.

The series is hosted by Manish Paul yet again. Malaika Arora, Shahid Kapoor, and Ganesh Hegde and Lauren Gottlieb judged the eighth season. The finale took place on 10 October 2015 declaring Faisal Khan and Vaishnavi as the winners while popular actress Sanaya Irani and Jai was the first runners-up.
