Jim Beavers is an American country music songwriter. He is also the brother of songwriter Brett Beavers.

Early life and education

Jim Beavers grew up in Garland and Jacksonville, Texas. [1] His educational background includes a BBA from Baylor University [2] and an MBA from Vanderbilt University. [3] Beavers was a founding member of Sons of the Desert. [4]

Career

Beavers moved to Nashville in 1991 to pursue a career on the business side of music. His work experience prior to songwriting includes stints as director of marketing for Capitol Records [5] and Virgin Records, touring musician with Lee Ann Womack, and professor at Middle Tennessee State University. [6]

Since 2002, Beavers has focused primarily on songwriting. He has had dozens of songs recorded by artists such as Chris Stapleton, Luke Bryan, Dierks Bentley, Tim McGraw, Hootie and the Blowfish, Toby Keith, Gary Allan, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Josh Turner, Billy Currington, Trace Adkins, Brooks & Dunn, Brad Paisley, and Faith Hill among others. Beavers' compositions have received multiple Country Music Association (CMA), Academy of Country Music, Broadcast Music, Inc., and Nashville Songwriters Association International [8] nominations and awards. He has co-written nine number-one songs.

In 2022, Beavers was elected and served as Chairman of the Country Music Association (CMA).

It was released in July 2008 as the first single from Currington's 2008 album Little Bit of Everything. For the week of February 7, 2009, the song became Currington's fifth Top 10 hit on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, peaking at number 2 behind Blake Shelton's "She Wouldn't Be Gone".

Sea Gayle Music is an independent music publishing company based in Nashville, Tennessee in the United States. It was formed in 1999 by songwriter Chris DuBois, songwriter/producer Frank Rogers, and songwriter/artist Brad Paisley. In 2010 and 2011, Sea Gayle Music was named ASCAP Country Publisher of the Year. This was the first time since 1982 that an independent music publishing company has won this award. The company is under the umbrella of Sea Gayle INC.
