The Kenogami River is a river in the James Bay drainage basin in Thunder Bay and Cochrane districts in Northern Ontario, Canada, which flows north from Long Lake near Longlac to empty into the Albany River. The river is 320 kilometres (199 mi) in length and its name means "long water" in the Cree language. A portion of the river's headwaters have been diverted into the Lake Superior drainage basin.

It lies at the south end of Esnagi Lake on the Magpie River where the Canadian Pacific Railway transcontinental main line crosses the river, between the settlements of Ryerson on the line 14 kilometres (9 mi) to the west and Franz, the junction of the CPR with the Algoma Central Railway, 9 kilometres (6 mi) to the east. Canadian Pacific Railway has built, operates and maintains a signalled siding at Swanson as part of their White River Subdivision. The signals and switches at Swanson and other signalled siding locations on the White River Subdivision are under Centralized Traffic Control (CTC), a train control system operated by a Rail Traffic Controller situated in the Canadian Pacific Railway headquarters in Calgary, Alberta. Via Rail provides passenger train services with the Sudbury – White River train.

There is a siding at Ryerson, and Via Rail provides flag stop services with the Sudbury – White River train once daily in each direction. The place is adjacent to the eponymous Ryerson Creek and Ryerson Lake.

It is on the Canadian National Railway Kashabowie Subdivision main line, built originally as the Canadian Northern Railway transcontinental main line, and just off Ontario Highway 11, at this point part of the Trans-Canada Highway, in both cases between the community of Kashabowie to the west and the railway point of Kabaigon to the east. Postans is also at the outlet from Postans Lake where an unnamed creek heads west to Postans Bay on Kashabowie Lake, part of the Kashabowie River.
