Joseph James Raccuia is an American college baseball coach and former player. Raccuia played college baseball at Edison Community College from 1992 to 1993 before transferring to Radford University where he played in 1994 and 1996. Raccuia was the head coach of Radford from 2008 to 2019.

Early life

Raccuia enrolled at Edison Community College, where he played for the baseball team. In 1994, Raccuia accepted a scholarship to continue his playing career at Radford University.

As a junior at the Radford University in 1994, Raccuia had a .295 batting average, a .403 on-base percentage (OBP) and a .350 SLG. [1]

As a senior in 1995, Raccuia batted .225 with a .316 SLG, 1 home run, and 18 RBIs. [2]

Coaching career

Upon graduation, Raccuia was named an assistant at Radford. From 1997 to 2000, he spent four seasons as an assistant for the George Washington Colonials baseball program. [3] Raccuia then spent three seasons as an assistant for the George Mason Patriots baseball team. [4]

Marist

On September 16, 2003, Raccuia left George Mason to become the head baseball coach for the Marist Red Foxes baseball program. [5] In 2005, he led the Red Foxes to a 33–21 record, winning the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) both regular season and tournament. He was named the Co-MAAC Coach of the Year along with Tony Rossi. [6]

Raccuia left Marist after two seasons to become an assistant for the Alabama Crimson Tide baseball program. [7]

Radford

On July 11, 2007, Raccuia was named the head coach at Radford. [8] On August 15, 2019, Raccuia resigned from his position at head coach at Radford. Raccuia lead Radford to 348 wins and to the only two NCAA tournament appearances in the program's history. [9]

The Marist Red Foxes men's basketball team is the basketball team that represents Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York, United States. The school's team currently competes in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. The Red Foxes have qualified for the NCAA tournament twice, losing in the first round in both instances. Prior to joining the MAAC in 1997, Marist was a charter member of the ECAC Metro Conference in 1981; which became the Northeast Conference in 1988.

Williams Field at Carter Memorial Stadium is a baseball venue on the campus of Radford University in Radford, Virginia, United States. It is home to the Radford Highlanders of the NCAA Division I Big South Conference. The field opened in 1986 and underwent extensive renovations in 2011. Its capacity is 800 spectators, with a grass area down the left field line allowing for overflow crowds.

Tajama Abraham Ngongba is a former professional basketball player in the Women's National Basketball Association. Abraham attended George Washington University and was the 31st draft pick in the 1997 WNBA draft. She played for Sacramento Monarchs in 1997 and Detroit Shock in 1998. Abraham took a position as the women's Assistant Coach of basketball at George Mason University in 2013.

Mike McRae is a Canadian college baseball coach who is currently the head baseball coach at the College of William & Mary. He was formerly an assistant coach at Virginia Commonwealth University and head coach of the Canisius Golden Griffins. McRae was Canisius's head coach from the start of the 2005 season to the end of the 2017 season. Under McRae in 2013, Canisius advanced to its first NCAA Tournament. The 2019 NCAA Division I Baseball season, play of college baseball in the United States organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division I level, began February 15, 2019. The season progressed through the regular season, many conference tournaments and championship series, and concluded with the 2019 NCAA Division I baseball tournament and 2019 College World Series. The College World Series, consisting of the eight remaining teams in the NCAA tournament and held annually in Omaha, Nebraska, at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha, ended on June 26, 2019. The Vanderbilt Commodores won the tournament, and were consequently named national champions.

Karl Kuhn is an American college baseball coach and former catcher, who is the current pitching coach for the Charleston Southern Buccaneers. Kuhn played college baseball at Valencia Community College from 1987 to 1989 and at the University of Florida in 1990 for head coach Joe Arnold. He then served as the head coach of the Radford Highlanders (2020–2022).

Alexander Joseph Guerra is a baseball coach and former infielder, who is the current head baseball coach of the Radford Highlanders. He played college baseball at Greensboro in 2007 and 2008 before transferring to Radford from 2009 to 2011.

Eduardo Cornejo is a baseball coach and former infielder, who is the current head baseball coach of the Cal State Northridge Matadors. He played college baseball at Riverside Community College in 2001 before transferring to Oklahoma. He played professionally from 2003 to 2008.
