John Ahlers

John Ahlers is the television play-by-play announcer for the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League on Bally Sports SoCal/Bally Sports West. [1] He has also served as an announcer for Poker Royale on the Game Show Network. [2]

A Michigan State University graduate, Ahlers early broadcasting career consisted of stints with the Michigan State Spartans and Colorado College Tigers men's hockey teams and professionally with the Salt Lake Golden Eagles and the Louisville IceHawks. [3]

Ahlers spent five seasons as the television and radio voice of the Detroit Vipers. During that time, he also called the IHL Game of Week and Turner Cup Finals for Fox Sports Net. While with the Vipers he received the IHL Broadcaster of the Year award in 1995 and Emmys for Best Sports Broadcasts in 1995 and 1998. [3]

In 1999, Ahlers joined the Tampa Bay Lightning where he served as the radio play-by-play voice until 2002. He also hosted the Lightning's television pre-game show and Lightning Weekly, a magazine format program aired on the Sunshine Network.

Ahlers joined the Ducks television broadcasts for the 2002–03 NHL season, partnering with longtime Ducks color commentator Brian Hayward. [4] In 2003, he won the Emmy for Best Live Sports Broadcast during Game 4 against the Detroit Red Wings in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. [5] He also served as an announcer for occasional NHL games on Versus.

In 2005, Ahlers became the permanent host of GSN's Poker Royale. [6] He hosted six tournaments in the series before the show ended in December 2005. He joined Sports USA in 2012 as a college football announcer. [7]

He has also won nine national Emmy Awards for excellence in sports broadcasting, the only hockey broadcaster to be honored with even one. On December 12, 2011, Emrick became the first member of the media to be inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame. In 2017, Sports Illustrated listed Emrick as the sportscaster of the year.

The Detroit Vipers were an International Hockey League team. The team was founded in 1994, and played at The Palace of Auburn Hills. Their mascot was a polar bear named Vipe-bear.

Shane Hnidy Canadian ice hockey player

Shane Hnidy is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman. Between 2000 and 2011, he played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Ottawa Senators, Nashville Predators, Atlanta Thrashers, Anaheim Ducks, Boston Bruins, and Minnesota Wild. He is currently part of the Vegas Golden Knights broadcast team on AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain.

<i>NHL on Fox</i> Television series

NHL on Fox is the branding formerly used for broadcasts of National Hockey League games that were produced by Fox Sports and televised on the Fox network from the 1994–1995 NHL season until the 1998–1999 NHL season. Sean ODonnell

Sean O'Donnell is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman. Drafted 123rd overall by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft, O'Donnell has played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Los Angeles Kings, Minnesota Wild, New Jersey Devils, Boston Bruins, Phoenix Coyotes, Anaheim Ducks, Philadelphia Flyers and Chicago Blackhawks. He won the Stanley Cup as a member of the Ducks in 2007.

Guy Andre Hebert is an American former professional ice hockey goaltender. He is a graduate of La Salle Institute in Troy and Hamilton College in Clinton, New York. Despite being an American, he uses the French pronunciation of his first and last name. During his National Hockey League (NHL) career he played for the St. Louis Blues, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and New York Rangers. Hebert currently works as associate host on Fox Sports Prime Ticket for Anaheim Ducks home games.

Ken Daniels is a Canadian sportscaster. Currently the play-by-play announcer for the Detroit Red Wings of the NHL on Bally Sports Detroit, entering his 19th season as the voice of the Red Wings, he is best known as a sportscaster with CBC Sports, having worked for the network from 1985 until 1997, the year he joined the Red Wings. Daniels now lives in Birmingham, Michigan.

Mark Fitzpatrick is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender. He moved to Kitimat, British Columbia, where he started minor hockey, when he was ten years old. He won the Memorial Cup twice as a member of the Medicine Hat Tigers before going on to a professional career with the Los Angeles Kings, New York Islanders, Florida Panthers, Tampa Bay Lightning and Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League.

Bally Sports Detroit is an American regional sports network owned by Diamond Sports Group that operates as a Bally Sports affiliate. It provides coverage of local sports teams in the state of Michigan, primarily focusing on those in Metro Detroit. The network airs exclusive broadcasts of games involving the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Pistons, Detroit Red Wings, repeats of Detroit Lions preseason games, and select games from the Grand Rapids Griffins, as well as some state college and high school sports.

From 2006 to 2008, NBC's studio show originally broadcast out of the rink at New York's Rockefeller Center, at the foot of NBC's offices during January and February. Dave Randorf is a Canadian sportscaster who serves as the play-by-play announcer for the television broadcasts of the Tampa Bay Lightning. He is best known for his work at TSN hosting the network's Canadian Football League studio show as well as TSN's and CTV's coverage of figure skating. He also did play-by-play for the NHL on TSN, World Hockey Championship, and the National Lacrosse League on TSN.

The Detroit Lions Television Network is a network of seven television stations in Michigan and Ohio that broadcast the NFL's Detroit Lions preseason games and related coverage. On May 21, 2015, the Detroit Lions announced a multi-year broadcast partnership with WJBK and Bally Sports Detroit. Bally Sports Detroit produces the preseason game broadcasts with Fox 2 producing the pre-game and post-game segments. The games air live on Fox 2 and the rest of the Detroit Lions Television Network, with re-airings on Bally Sports Detroit. The wrap around shows' hosts are Fox 2 sports director and Lions radio announcer Dan Miller, former Lions wide receiver Herman Moore, and Fox 2 sports anchors/reporters Jamie Samuelsen, Jennifer Hammond, and Woody Woodriffe. The most recent game announcers were sportscaster Fred McLeod with play-by-play, former Lions linebacker Chris Spielman with color commentary, and NFL writer Tori Petry with sideline reports. The network also airs a live regular season pre-game show called Lions Game Day Live, while Bally Sports Detroit has a live regular season post-game show called Lions Live.
